@Substance - the member behind the DCblades website.

I recently had my whole razor roll honed and thought I'd try someone new.
I'm very impressed by the competitive pricing (even a discount for P&C members) quick turnaround time and great feedback on each blade. Having used 4 of the blades now I've had some of the smoothest shaves yet so I'm stoked. Perfect work.

I can recommend this honing service as another top quality professional in our midst. Thanks mate, great work.

That is all.

@Substance do you suffer the same Jnat plight our other honemeister suffers from?

I was going to ask... which edge? What was the finishing stone used?
What was the last edges? Different stone?

I think mine were finished on a jnat..?
Nic your work as noted was as follows:
sorry no JNats still getting used to them waiting for some decent Nagura stones
Work performed:
The Friodur, Joseph Rogers? Celebrated & the Bengall where all good with no issues so only took them back to the Norton 8k to reset & clean up the bevels then up to the Nani 12k & finished with 0.3 micron Chrox & 0.1micron Ferox on balsa.

On initial inspection revealed the following:
  • The Invicta had a frown/hollow on the bevel edge in front of the stabilizer at the heal, so I did a bit of work on the heal to remove the excess on the stabiliser & straighten out the edge & bevel

  • The Thomas Rudd had pitting in the bevel & a chip or pitting on the toe, surprised if this ever shaved without some tugging as there was about half a dozen pits in the cutting edge at least, so I took this back to the 1k Diamond plate to correct the toe and remove the pitting until it had a clean edge again, and also evened out the warp in the bevel a bit better for you.
These where both then taken from the Nani 1k to clean up the Diamond reworks & reset the bevels through to a Norton 4k, 8k onto the Nani 12k followed by 0.3 micron Chrox & 0.1micron Ferox on balsa also,

All honing is performed with 1 layer of tape to protect spines on the stones & Oxides then removed for stropping,
All initially post honing stropped with 50 laps on Clean felt followed by 100 or so laps on English Bridal
