Looking for Voskhod replacment

I have been using Voskhod blades and like them , but i would like to find some razor blades in same price range and shave quality, but not coming from Russia, what would you experts recommend
 
Rapira Chrome are from Russia unfortunately, but an awesome blade. Thinking lord, crown, Big Ben, shark, or Treet may fit the bill, however none of them strode out as great blades from memory. Think the lord platinum were ok? Will try them tomorrow.
 
Perma sharp supers? Turkish I think, but sharper than Voskhods. I find them a bit on the blunt side

Derby premium might be what you are looking for. It is quite new in market. You may also want to contribute to the current review on P&C following your trial.

Is there a reason why Russia is off the menu mate?
 
I don't think you are going to find a similar non-Russian blade at the same price point as Voskhod. I paid less than $10 per 100 for mine. Apart from Swedish Supersteel and Rapira Platinum Lux all of the other blades that I like are at least $5-$10 dearer per 100.
 
What are my ears hearing Voskhods you want a different blade to Voskhods sacra blur oh no no no no this cannot be.............................
 
I would either get Perma-Sharp Super or Astra Superior Platinum ;)

Oh no I'm not saying that more expensive blades are too expensive @Drubbing I just noted that the OP is looking for blades in the same price range. $5 - $10 more is a 60%-100%+ increase in cost and therefore not the same price range IMO.

Personally I am happy to pay anywhere up to about $20-$25 per 100 for good blades.
 
But price has little to do with quality with these sorts of goods. For many reasons, for a start, marketing budgets don't enter into it. He might be able to get similar blades for a similar price, but if Voks are around $20, you can't go much lower than that without buying the odds and sods stuff. Word of mouth sells most of these blades, that's why the big names are popular.

You are paying $20 for Voskhods? Seems a bit steep to me. You should be able to get them for around $10 per 100.

Personally I would recommend the following blades as an alternative to Voskhod (most of these are sharper too) (prices are based on buying at least 500 blades as well)

Swedish Supersteel (Russian) - around $10 AUD per 100 landed
Rapira Platinum Lux (Russian) - around $10 AUD per 100 landed
Astra Superior Platinum (Russian) - around $16 AUD per 100 landed
Polsilver Super Iridium (Russian) - around $19 AUD per 100 landed
Permasharp (Russia) - around $23 AUD per 100 landed

Unfortunately all of my favourite blades are all Russian made as you can tell. Unless I was to find a blade that provided a substantially better result I would be hard pressed to spend any more than the above on blades (or there about). If I were to run out of Permasharps I would probably consider not replacing them over the other blades as I do not feel that they are worth the extra dollars over the Polsilvers or the Voskhods/Swedish Supersteels/Rapiras (they are fantastic blades though).

Again all of this is persoanl preference. If you find a blade that gives you really good results and you are happy to pay $50 per 100 I say go for it. That still only works out to 50 cents per blade and if you get 4 shaves out of it that works out to only 12.5 cents per shave. Not very expensive in the scheme of things really.

I have about 30-40 years worth of blades so probably wont be buying anymore anytime soon I wouldn't think.

Most importantly here I too am curious as to why there appears to be a specific disliking to purchasing Russian made blades @David7307. Can you shed any light on this?

As mentioned, since there is a large manufacturing plant for blades is in St Petersburg (Russia), a lot of the world's blades come from there. But blades are also made in India, China, Mexico, Israel, Japan, the U.K., Germany and USA.

I'd recommend you try:
* Personna Super/Labs/Blue (USA)
* Gillette 7 O'Clock SharpEdge (Yellows) and Super Platinum (Blacks) - (both made in India I believe)
* Chrome Platinium or Israeli/Red Personnas (Israel)

All run more than the Voshkods at around $15-25 for 100 blades.

Note that some of the Gillette 7 O'Clocks (the Super Stainless - Green) come from the St Petersburg factory in Russia.
