Repinning scales

Hey guys,
I'm restoring a couple of straights I have here. Is there anywhere local I can get washers and rod etc. to re-pin my scales or should I order them online?

Just go to your local hobby supply shop. Somewhere that sells model making supplies and ask for brass rod. I bought about a meters worth of 2mm for $5 the other week. They will also have flat round washers. If you want fancy washers such as bulls-eye's you might want to ask @Substance or @Mark

The 1/16" rods, micro washers & fasteners suppliers are www.railcar.com.au or www.microfasteners.com in the states
Rail car is good as you buy small amounts also in Aus
Look under K&S for rod and Microfasteners for washers and bolts etc
#0 washers narrow and wide for stacking if I remember right

Eyelet type washers are from www.riogrande.com they have brass and silver eyelets just make sure they are the 1/16" inner hole not outside size I got once
Toy world also sells 1/16" brass rod in their model making sections
Cheers D

You can easily make dome washers from the wide washers, just use a large centre punch to dome them slightly
Then flip them over and get a nail punch (about 4mm) about 1mm smaller than the outer diameter of the washers
Get a narrow washer place the domed wide washer over it then lightly tap the washer with the nail punch to form it over the small washer and flatten the edges down on a form of anvil (flat metal section)
