In an effort to get some action here, maybe a shave of the day thread. I know, it's not exactly riveting stuff but I need to get my post count up somehow. I only shave every other day but here goes:

Speick shave stick. Just got a supply in and decided to see what I'd been missing. Yes, it's up there with the best.
Vulfix 2189 boar/badger brush
Gillette Long Handled Black Super Adjustable on no 4.
Kai blade. First time with a Kai. Like the packaging with no markings at all on the blade.
Alum block
Tea tree oil antiseptic cream
Simple Moisturiser

As you can see no alcohol based after shave stuff.
 
Why not it passes the time...

Godrej Rich Foam - Performs much better than the Indian cricket team fortunately!
Frank Shave Silvertip - Floppy little bastard but lathers up a storm
Gillette Rocket HD
Feather blade - shave #3...pretty much the expiry date for feathers IME. Shave was excellent but I have learned my feather lesson going for #4.
Dickenson's Witch Hazel
L'Oreal something or other balm. Calcium and stuff, technology ;)
 
Always ready to share. Today was 2 pass SE blade day
Proraso & the ex-Drubbing Blobbie and a reasonable amount of fuzz.
Second shave on the blade.
2 passes and all was well although I do have to say neither the previous 2 pass DE or the 2 pass SE were as good as one of each.
Followed it up with a decent splash of ex-Drubbing Musgo (I have been using too little each time - this time Herself actually commented on how good it was).
That wa sit off to work and start planning the next one.
 
Anything for another post so I just went and shaved.

Cella ( first time I've tried it)
Ex-Drubbing Semogue 830
Ex-Glen Flare Tip
Persona Red ( first time I've used this blade too)
Thayers Cucumber Witch Hazel ( first time too)

So a few first timers tonight. The combination of soap, razor and blade was excellent. I'm liking the flare tip; nice weight, nice size. I love the smell of the Cella. 830 lathered up brilliantly and the handle is beautiful. personna gave a nice clean cut with one little nick where I wasn't paying attention and I know I need to pay attention. Doh!

So, the cucumber... Well I've got a sample pack and had to give it a go sometime... Reminded me of the green grocery but the scent disappears quickly and I like the effect of the toner on my skin.

Score: 8.5 out of 10
 
Still no new toys for this little camper.
I did buy a nice Japanese wide mug at Lifeline today for a whopping 20c, so I tested it out for making a lather compared to lathering up in my hand.
So I guess I could claim:
Dodgy davinchi bristle brush
Palmolive cream.
Lathered up well, but didn't get ride of much stubble.

At this rate I should have a nice beard (by my standards) going on by the time my hardware turns up.

Ha-ha. I think we all kid ourselves that it'll arrive earlier than reality suggests. Every now and again though we get a pleasant surprise and just as often we get to thinking our highly anticipated goodies are lost in transit.
 
One of the Perth boys ordered something a day after me from the same place in the UK. His arrived yesterday, I am still waiting.

Just lather on your face. Squeeze a little turd in to a wet brush and away you go. Your face with stubble is the ideal lathering base. Doing it in the palm of your hand is a little bit weird I think. Actually it's very weird come to think of it.

I realised this was the hive minds thoughts on the subject on the first day I had talking privileges so went out and bought a mug. I had tried face lathering at first, but it just hadn't worked so tried the hand instead.

If I say I changed tactics as soon as I read that thread, can I still stay?

I noticed it was a little bit quiet here.
But i don't want to keep asking things which go over the same ground that has been trodden again and again either here or somewhere else.

Nothing here has been gone over again and again. Except drubbings loathing of smileys and our collective talent in taking a thread way off course. Feel free to ask whatever you want. If I can help or even if I can't, I want to get my post count up.

For what reason, you pretty much have the highest post count already.

Eggbert, post what you want, it's only when new people join that there's action here. We're not so busy or jaded that anyone gets annoyed with new posts, quite the opposite, gets as all interested again. Most of us have settled down with what we like, same old same old and have no reason to discuss it or try something new...
 
Slapped a 7 O'Clock yellow in the HD. MWF for soap and 830 for lather.

Good shave but reconfirms my thoughts on the Gillette Yellow.

Ask away Eggbert. The crusty old timers love to share their hard earned knowledge!

Why? Did someone offer free Easter eggs for posting or something?

My SOTDs would be very boring. 1 razor, 2-3 blades, and a few soaps/creams. Aftershaves odn't affect the quality of the shave, so I don't bother listing them. Plus I don't have a $5000 Canon with macro lenses to post jauntily posed razors in SOTD porn mode.
