Soaps for Seasons.

g'day gents.

now i still am fairly new to wet shaving but over the past three months ive build up a small (well comparatively small) collections of soaps. now at the meet up i discussed briefly with @borked how different sent profiles are prefered during different times of the year and i would like to further this discussion with everyone on here.

as an example; ive found that im enjoying a sample of stirlings menthol soap during hot hot days

but i was wondering what scent profiles everyone enjoys for the four seasons and why.

It really does come down to personal preferences.
I like the sweeter to florals in summer and heavier scents for winter.
Kind of like our meals for seasons tend to change to heavier and stronger flavours in colder periods.

Spot on!

Florals / citrus / light scents in Summer (or hotter days) and heavier more robust in Winter cooler weather. Winter brings out the bay rums, tobacco etc for me

can u reccomend a good bay rum?

well im loving the squadron soap - group captains blend at the moment but i keep finding myself going back to the menthol more often then not in the weather

Captain's Choice Soaps (http://thestraywhisker.com.au/captains-choice-shaving-soap-bay-rum/) and The Local Gent Soaps (http://thestraywhisker.com.au/captains-choice-shaving-soap-bay-rum/) get good reviews and come in bay rum. I've used other Black Ship Grooming soaps and they are great (http://thestraywhisker.com.au/captains-choice-shaving-soap-bay-rum/)

I've just ordered the OSP (https://www.theenglishshavingcompany.com/osp-bay-rum-shaving-soap.html) soap which again comes highly recommended and have previously used Mike's Natural Soaps (http://www.mikesnaturalsoaps.com/Shaving Tins.html) but the Bay Rum is OOS.

Splash wise the Cat 'o' Nine Tails is a classic (http://thestraywhisker.com.au/captains-choice-after-shave-cat-o-nine-tails/) bay rum staple but my favourite would be the Ogallala (http://www.ogallalabayrum.com/) and it is just a pity that you cannot get them in Australia any more...

St Johns Bay Rums (http://www.stjohnsbayrum.com/) are great and I believe they DO ship internationally. Our friend Juan at @Gifts&Care.com also has the classic Clubman Bay Rum (http://www.giftsandcare.com/en/afte...lubman-pinaud-bay-rum-after-shave-177ml.html?) and will ship internationally.

ive only got margaritas in the arctic but i have 6 samples on the way, i cant remember exactly which ones i ordered but i know im excited to try the unscented one with bees wax,

B&M Cologne Russe?

Barrister and Mann Bay Rum is my go to bay rum soap in the cooler months. I like it because it does not contain clove oil, clove oil tends to mask the allspice and it cloys in the fragrance.

For aftershaves I like the Ogallala range mostly.
 
Remind me to bring my bay rum collection at the next meet-up.
You can sniff your way to a hot list to try :)
 
B&M arctique in the summer. Stirling glacial in the spring. Yeti snot in winter, and chiseled face - cryogen during the buildup.
On a particularly cold day, I might crack open the proraso eucalyptus and menthol

If you can manage to get your hands on any of those soaps your laughing. Every time I try they are all sold out
