Tips or splay?

@bald as you've got me and that's a bloody good question which I cannot answer since I was using the Simpsons Chubby 2 Synthetic Badger v2.0 Fiber 27/52mm, and I was thinking the same thing as the brush doesn't face lather to well in a bulb shape and I thought I should use the tip of this brush to create a lather rather splaying which I'm completely lost.

I use splay circular motion when I created my face lather instead of using a tip of the brush.

However this guy doesn't have any issue see link below and he was splaying while creating a lather.

Tips for me and my boars.
I just work the tips gentle on my face and the knot does the work deeper down. The mechanics in there generate that soapy goodness and deliver to the tips. Only requirement is a paint stroke now and again to coax gravity.
But that's me and it's DSDF.

As a face latherer - both.
I do a bit of "scrubbing" with a mild splay in circles initially, and if I think it's too dry and want to work some water in but most of the time it's painting with tips.

Tips all the way - not paying top $$$ for soft tipped badgers and use the shafts for lathering...

But same goes for boars, the lather produced by the tips is IMO superior...
