Whiskers!

As I near my “use-by” date, I have noticed that my whiskers are not only white instead of black, but much softer than before and they grow slower. When I got married fifty-three years ago, I had to shave three times on my wedding day to avoid looking like a vagrant in the wedding photos. There was a photo shoot early in the morning. The ceremony took place in the early afternoon and the wedding party was at night.

Now, I can get by shaving every other day, but I do enjoy my relaxing time and look forward to it, so I shave every day.

A one pass shave with a SR leaves me with a DFS throughout the day. A three-pass shave means a BBS that is still a DFS the following day.

Any of you baby boomers relate to this?

I think I'm a bit behind you (I turned 61 earlier this month), but I have no idea what colour my hair or beard is, since I've been shaving both for some 20 years. (If I let my hair grow, there would be evidence of a distinguished widow's peak, but I'm content to maintain a shine.) When I was young, I was blond, and the hair on the rest of my integument is the same colour now as it was then. So if I skip a day, nobody else notices much (except for Mme, of course), but I'm discontent with the abrasive skin until I can deal with it. I haven't noticed any softening of my whiskers, maybe that's something I can look forward to.

Almost the last thing my Dad said to me before the cancer carried him to the bosom of Abraham was that he didn't need to shave so much anymore, and he missed it. Probably something else I have to look forward to, given that he and all his siblings got their quietus courtesy of the big C.
