Podcast Recommendations

With Canberra radio being diabolically bad I spend more time now listening to podcasts.

Somehow I stumbled on The West Wing Weekly which got me started as a West Wing tragic. I've since added a few such as -

50 things that made the Modern Economy
The Allusionist
Ear Hustle

I also listen to a lot of the ABC's Conversations episodes on podcast too as well as a few shorter series around particular professional interests.

Anybody else getting or gotten into podcasts?

What is your preferred player? I use Overcast but am happy for other suggestions.

Yes Mark, I am an 'avid caster, I like to listen to 3 or 4 before going to sleep of a night. I find Podcasts fantastic, the range of topics and the convenience is ideal for me

This is my current favourite, its technology and design focused but covers a very broad range of topics.

Recently I have also enjoyed listening to the 2017 Boyer lectures on the ABC delivered by Professor Genevieve Bell who spent a long time forging a career with Intel in Silicon Valley, actually I have found the ABC has a lot of excellent content: Beyond the Lab, Law Report and so on.

I'm on Android (and always will be) so I use FM Player.

Planet Money - No interest in finance necessary, but an incredibly interesting exploration of the economy.

I struggle to keep up with the podcasts I'm subscribed to on pocket casts.
Moist of mine are heavily UK based with funny football ones ( quickly Kevin, will he score?, the magic sponge, and the Tuesday club), as well as Flintoff, Savage and the ping pong guy (general sports).
My other favourites include bbc4s news quiz extra, any Richard herring podcast, and the bugle

Art of charm is a fun one, the host Jordan comes from a fascinating background qualifyed as a lawyer who worked on wall st, kidnaped twice in the Middle East, has worked intelligence for the US and now runs art of charm. The podcast brings heavy hitters from many fields on for discussions.

Art of manliness host Brett McKay has been podcasting for ages, covering all things men should know as well as interesting interviewing fascinating people form various fields, there is a lot of crossover with art of charm and between the two you get interesting questioning from the two hosts.

Accidental creative host Todd Henry comes from a create on demand contracting background and discusses issues unique to this type of work.

I thought I might bump this thread as Ive been listening to CGP Grey & Brady Haran's 'Hello Internet' as I find the long-form format much more appealing (60-120mins) and it's a nice and relaxing way to pass the Summer holiday period.

I'm hopelessly behind on various podcast. So much worthy content out there. I've mostly given up on keeping up. One I'll mention is "What Trump can teach us about con law". I'm not in the legal profession or legally trained, but it's still fascinating. It's by Roman Mars who is well known as a top notch podcaster.

I'm home with a broken leg so I really should be listening more rather than just binge watching Netflix! I usually use Pocket Casts to listen.

I crashed a Segway of all things just after Christmas. Fractures in lower leg bones. Not really nasty as broken bones go but still no fun. I'm only a week in but not looking forward to my 6 weeks of crutches . Pork banana sounds... Interesting
