Yeah, I'm starting to miss it a bit. Too much DE blade stuff going on.

Well gentlemen woke up this morning thinking about what I was going to use today. Decided to take out my Johnson, again, and see how it worked for the 2nd day in a row.
Razor: Johnson. Straight razor
Soap: Klar Kabinett Rasierseife ( received as a Christmas gift)
Brush: horse
Alum
AS: Clubman Bay Rum
Balm: Nevia
After touching up the Johnson on the Barber Hone. Excellent shave.

:blink::weird::wacko::huh:

Take it easy on the cheese and kisses mate! I'm breaking up laughing on this one. Thanks John!

I thought I was very restrained but the thought of the "hone" made me shudder a little.

To say nothing of those of us who whip out our Slim for a few strokes (maybe time to go back to the Fatboy) :)

Really Glen, I thought you preferred the Old Types? Double Ring or Single Ring?

Point taken.
Today on a more serious note I do have some ?'s on a few products:
Razor: Geneva Cutlery, very narrow blade 4/8 kind of a home town razor. The company is about 70 miles from my home.
Brush: Boar
Soap: RazoRock Nepoleon Violet. This is one of there new soaps.
Alum
AS: RazoRock Baby Blue
Balm: Nivea Protective.
Had the razor for some time now. Never quite got an edge on stones . Tried a pasted cotton strop and it seems to almost be there.
Question: RazoRock Napoleon Violet. Shaves well but ? Is there a fragrance? I don't smell any scent to it at all! Not even a soap smell.
Anyone there try it??

(The Baby Blue, on the other hand, is a very nice product.)

Nice John!

Some razors are just real buggers to get them as sharp as you want. Keep plugging away and I'm sure you give yourself a surprise and have it come up to standard unexpectedly. Some blades just need to be loved before they reciprocate with an edge.

Will let her rest for a couple of weeks and try her again. Each time she does seem sharper.

This is why I will not venture to straights - skill required!

Having been lured in trying loads of DE blades, I've ignored the SE side of my stash. What a dumb thing to do! I haven't had as close a shave as this for ages. It's not as easy as a DE blade and as always, it sounds bloody scarey, but the result was great. By the way, has anybody tried the Irish Moos cream? Was thinking of getting some in the future.

Back to basics today just to whack the whiskers down for work...

P.160 morbido
smog 830
slim (6,6)
permasharp super (1)
Proraso splash

Just had at it as quickly as possible for two passes. Serviceable but nothing to write home about. You just can't really bugger up with this combo.

Hopefully some more time over the weekend and I'll try something from the blade sampler for review.

Today i tried the parmolive from woolies. Its actually not too bad. The brown and yellow Shave tube went straight into the bin after the parmolive.

Futur + Wilkerson sword + parmolive. Finishing up with witch hazel and jojoba oil
