Welcome @watchme from what I have heard the change from cartridge to wet shaving in itself is enough to reduce irritation especially when you learn the art of lathering.
If you are interested in vintage my experience is limited to what I have in the den but can definitely recommend the Vintage 1950's Gillette British #58 Aristocrat Razor and some good quality blades
There is one on the bay for $115 or Best Offer ATM. It's a smooth, safe and efficient vintage razor
