Vintage Shulton Old Spice Soap Rejuvenation

TomG

Gentleman Shaver from WA ...
Grand Society
2020 Charity Auction Winner
Was lucky enough to pick up an unused Shulton Old Spice Mug/soap from a very nice lady recently here in Australia. She advised that it belonged to her Grandfather, and dated it from the ‘60s.

The mug was pristine - the soap, though unused, had become a wee bit crumbly and lost its scent. Hence, rejuvenation was a must. After removal from mug, I finely grated the soap with a microplane, then sequentially compressed back into the mug in small batches, adding vintage Shulton Old Spice aftershave to restore the scent.
Absolutely delighted with the outcome - the soap performs great and the scent, as expected, is absolutely spot on.
Happy days! 😃

DIY rules

@TomG, wow impressive!! I've just started using a 3oz puck that was dried but not at all crumbly, I left it in the mug, covered with cold water and 5-10mls of OS aftershave, left for 24 hours and have now started using, lathers a bit thin but working on it. Pity they don't make this Classic anymore, for me IMHO the slickness is up there with the Fat and Schafmilch and my skin post shave feeling is great!!

Great stuff, I think that's an improvement on my technique of leaving the crusty bits in a small tin with a few drops of dihydrogen monoxide. A big (y)(y) for any of those Accutec microplanes BTW, they're the best.
