And one big fat motherporker.

Sorry, after my night at the Foo's I've been talking Grohl all week; it's been Foo heaven at Drubbing Central. I finally burnt my fave 50 Foo tracks and cranked them in the car. 50 fkin tracks and they're all epic. I bought the Wembley DVD. I ran through their whole doco on the Tube. At work. In his own words, Dave Grohl really is the luckiest badass muthafkinspaz. What fun to be him. Still, I think I've got it out of my system now.
Yes, I know, another big boar (and a littley, the black and blue one). Again, the only thing I can't resist is temptation. I like the 10005 so much, I had to find out what an Omega with a 'bit more' would be like. It's fkin big, that's what. At 27/65 it's bigger than the Smogi 2000, Everlong in fact, but more compact. I'll take marks off for finish, because mine has a gap betwixt beech and plastic that isn't very fetching. It's almost banjo-like. But for $14 you get a slab of wood, a ring of metal and one huge motherporking head of bristle. Sometimes, something's gotta give. Good Grief, for that little cash you can't complain too much.
If you think this hog is a bit wild, that's because it's Stacked To The Rafters and lathers like a beast. A few swirls Back And Forth on the soft soap and you're loaded enough to shave Jack Black and the Tenacious D road crew. A few swipes and you're covered. A few more and it's hydrated too. Omegas dispel the myth of break in; they lather like rock stars, even when they're lathering rock stars. Yes, they get softer – sort of like when Ronnie James Dio left Rainbow and they MOR'd out – but the process doesn't take long. But still, just A Matter Of Time.
You do need to like big brushes, as it can be a bit of a handful; they might fall End Over End if you're not careful, but I find it more usable then the 2000, which goes a lot softer during use, splays a bit too much, and can get The Best Of You. Omegas knots are more vertical, so you retain firmness. If you fancy your boars more badger like, you'll like Smoggies better. At Times Like These I prefer Omegas, they're plenty soft, but have grunt. Where have these brushes been All My Life?
The big Omega is softening up nicely, and even when it gets soaked it retains firm backbone. At the other end of the scale is the Weenie Beenie black and blue number. About 22/50, so a tad bigger than the black n white 10275 I got last month. Also even more plasticky looking, but a really nice small knot that - unlike Smoggie's - won't take a while to Come Alive - then go MIA before they DOA, like the 830. Interesting differences here; even though their specs are almost identical, they have very different feel. The 10275 is softer and more clumpy when wet, where the 10777 is scrubbier, more grunty and 'boary'. The bristles look different too. Perhaps it's just the bleaching and dying process of the banded boars. I don't know, but this feels like different stuff than in is the 10005 too. I won't suggest Omegas have hair grades, But Honestly, Stranger Things Have Happened. Perhaps it's just variance in batches of bristle that they get? Who knows, but there are differences.
So after a fair crack with Smoggies and Omegas, I much prefer the Omegas. They do what boars should do, without fuss. All those idiots on big forums that say boars in general need a couple of week to a month to give up good lather are talking tosh. The Semogues can be a bit finnicky, no matter how long you've had them and I've experienced that. But any of the 4 Omegas I've got now will crank it out from the first shave. I Should Have Known. With Omegas, you can Have It all.
I'm X-static. If a little Exhausted.
