Can all the badger fan boys please resist the overwhelming urge to tell the world how every brush other than a badger is inadequate and how enlightened you are since rubbing your face with a badger's a###.

The question pointedly put is what is your favourite BOAR brush and why is it such for you.
Do you have more than one BOAR brush and do you prefer any particular brand.

Does anyone here use a Semogue 2000 - 25mm knot and 60mm loft?

If you have any difficulty deciding how to anwser the premise of this post please re read the first paragraph :)

Vintage Butterscotch Simpson H2 boar. An uncommon vintage boar from Simpson - not many of these around

Do you have more than one BOAR brush and do you prefer any particular brand.

No, that is my only boar. I've had a previous vintage buterscotch Simpson KH3 boar - but it was huge and a Semogue many years ago before the knot cup fell out and @Drubbing showed me the error of my ways.

No

I did. On a few occasions. :)

My favourite is my Semogue 620, not sure why, pretty cheap by Smog standards, just ticks boxes i suppose, good grip, lather monster, paints well on the face, dries easily.

Yes, i had a cheap Windsor one that had a sentimental value as i took in on military ops and it never missed a beat, got dirty, never dry, bent out of shape, used it to clean my rifle a couple of times as well as for shaving, crap brush, just did the job, the little brush that could.

Sounds like the perfect personal protection weapon!

...used it to clean my rifle a couple of times as well ...

I trust that this was as reliable ;)

Personal protection weapon, i like it. It was reliable. Still have the brush somewhere, might grab it out, brush off the cobwebs and have a shave with it. To quote the famous movie Apocalypse Now, "i love the smell of fougere in the morning"

Finally!!!! Somebody else who understands :)

'smelled like ... victory' - the forgotten part of that great scene. Hmmm, must see if it is on Netflix ...

Sorry I can't - not only that, but the usage of badgers will actually enlighten you :D

The only one remaining boar in my den is my Omega 49. I actually like the size and shape of the handle a lot (but not the finish and lack of weight). The knot also holds it's shape quiet well and doesn't become a floppy mop like the large Semogues I have tried (SOC, 2000). Having said that, the SOC had wonderfully soft hair (but became an even more floppy mop). I have read a lot of praise for the 1305, but have also seen many pictures of the said looking like a floppy mop and I don't like the painted hair.

There is a guy who sells customised Zenith brushes - 28mm knots with lofts as low as 50mm. Apparently the hair has the softness of Semogue knots, but due to the low loft, it holds its shape. For a second I was intrigued, but the thought of breaking in another boar, just to realise, that it does not enlighten me, put me off :p

I used to have many boars, I'd say I broke in and used ~10. I personally prefer Omegas - see above

Semogue 1305 was bought because I liked the look of it and it was cheap. Enjoy using it too.

No, that is my only boar.

Semogue Barbear Classico Cerda (Limited Edition) because I love the handle (aesthetically and ergonomically) and the 22/55mm knot is to my liking.

Prefer Semogue's when I'm in a boar phase. My other is a 610. Also got a cheap Omega that I don't use anymore and a beautiful vintage of some unknown origin but it's very scratchy. I recall using someone's Badger & Blade Omega brush (was that part of the PCB2 box, @Mark1966 ?) and being totally surprised by how good it was - it was really, really good in fact. Think they are still sold at Westcoast Shaving.

Does you use a Semogue 2000 - 25mm knot and 60mm loft?
No. Closest I had was a Semogue Owners Club at 24mm knot and 55mm loft. Loved the handle but the knot was too floppy and wild for my liking. Sold it. Loved by so many but I never understood why.

P.S.
Although I am a badger fanboy, my favourite brush is the Semogue Barbear Classico Mistura. Same limited series as the Cerda above. The bristles are a blend of boar and 2-band badger. The handle feels like a natural extension of my hand and the knot is absolutely wonderful. An unconditional piece of joy to use.

Semogue 1305 Use it & you'll find out why it's one hell of a F@#$g awesome brush. Break the bitch in and she will reward you with an awesome lathering ability and awesome application to the face. And to top it all off all this for under A$25.00

Currently SOC as it's undyed and has a solid handle.

Yes. Semogue 1305, Omega Pro 48 and used to have a couple of others.

Nps

Semogue SOC.

Have two (one cherry, one ash) that I use twice each a week - leaving a space for my Semogue 620 and vintage German boar during their dry times
....I love my boars

I got a Semogue 2000 yesterday and a few days back an Omega 10098 and they are fantastic already and not even broken in.
