Brush: Thater 4125/3 2 Band
Soap: Saponificio Varesino Cosmo
Razor: iKON X3 Slant
Blade: PSI (1)
After-shave: Alum, Myrsol Agua Balsamica

The Thater is a tremendous brush. I am so happy I bought the 28mm version as it is such a joy to lather and massages my face beautifully. Lather shots here. The Cosmo delivered once again and the scent is easily in my top 3 .
This was the first time out with the X3 and I am very impressed. It is super smooth with very little blade feel (a downside for me). It gave an effortless BBS with zero irritation. I actually did give myself a few weepers with this razor but that was due to the fact that it felt so comfortable I wielded it with abandon. It certainly doesn't need the attention that the DLC Slant sometimes needs, but it shaves just as close. This would be a great morning razor.

Still not quite getting MWF lather right. I tried to load heavy with a slightly wet brush. Face lathered as normal, gradually introducing water. First pass OK, but glide was lacking a bit on second pass and I bailed mid-way through third pass as lather was dissipating. It has gotta be me, as so many shavers rave about this soap.
Any hints gratefully received.
Despite above, no nicks and only a touch of neck irritation. Sorted instantly by Myrsol's, and the relatively low sting from the Windsor aftershave confirmed that skin was still OK. Windsor - another scent that I love from DR Harris. More complex than their traditional fragrances, it starts with a burst of citrus, but soon becomes a more exotic peppery leather scent with maybe some woods lurking.

Well this was a bit of a run down memory lane from a long time ago with the Plisson on loan to me. It was hard not to laugh through the shave a far cry from the dangerous shave from last night with a $1.63 Chinese Safety Razor but the Plisson amused me no end it's basically a Paint Brush in disguise I remember it's catch phrase name was an idiots brush and to honest that's what it is. It is so soft so simple to use and get a lather happening that a complete novice or child could not go wrong with it. But this is not to be construed as saying it is no good but perfectly adapt to what it really is good for simple shaving with no skill level required but apt at what it does.

Onto the soap Aussie Whispers From The Wood a fragrance / scent that reminded me of fruity lollies from my childhood a pleasant not to overpowering scent that lasted well throughout the the 3 passes in the bowl not so noticeable on application. Cushioning was very good and no irritation from beginning to end whatsoever. Post shave feels soft and fresh all in all a 9/10.

Would I venture to source a Pllisson for myself probably not it's something from my past and beginning returning to wet shaving some nearly 18 months or so ago.

Fresh, green, earthy smell from today's lot. The lightly scented twice mint oil goes well with the grassy La Terre Verte soap and Vetiver.

After yesterday's shave I must confess that today was bliss.

I decided to just skip over Day Four and go straight to Day Five - the new Don Miguel.

Another Myrsol hit as far as I'm concerned. Initial face feel with Myrsols are often 'interesting' but give them a minute to settle and your face always feels so much better for them being on. This one is no exception. The jasmine is subtle yet persistent, not overpowering but certainly there.

Not much to say beyond TGIF. Always a great shave with Stirling, their take on Barbershop being one I always come back to. A usual 2 pass WTG XTG and a lovely result. Bring on the weekend I say!

@TomG 99% of the issues with lather is not enough product. MWF is hard, your Chubby is large and both brushes don't have tremendous amounts of backbone.

SoS just load longer. How much longer? You said the first pass was decent, 2 and 3 not so. So I'd say 2-3 times longer.

Once you have it, you can start using less again, but for now load way longer (and of course slowly add a bit more water) - good luck (y)

I agree. The Chubby needs significant loading. MWF is very hard and can be tricky to load, so sometimes it leads to insufficient lather. I find that it helps to soak the puck for a while, i.e fully submerged in the sink. MWF also likes to be used, so if you haven't used it for a while and it's really dry, make sure you soak it well. It also doesn't like too much water too soon.
I use a well soaked puck, a well squeezed Chubby and load for 90 seconds or longer. I add a few drops of water as I'm loading to help the brush pick up more lather.

@TomG I always load my MWF like I really hate it so much for another words loaded like HELL :mad: and add a little bit of water as you go along, MWF doesn't like having too much water so be careful and if you're not getting any decent lather in 2nd or 3rd pass don't be a shame to load MWF too HELL again. Remember we all make mistakes when we don't load the brush like HELL, and if you're worried too much about wasting lather going down the drain well take it from me ;) who bloody cares and whoopee so get out there and load'em up like HELL :p:D(y)

What a wonderful early morning shave today with the BBS-1 - such a beautifully made razor which gives me just a happy face.

The poor man's Chubby (Epsilon White horse) is a bit like a luxurious old-timer. Yes it does need a bit more care and work than your other brush types, but the resulting face feel and lather (picture here) can easily compete with any of my high-end badgers. Just remember to use the tips (no mashing) and avoid circular motions and the results will be outstanding.

No wonder you didn't get enough lather, you used 3 f'ing brushes
