Alum = Alum? Is it just packaging preference?

To be honest, I rarely ever use the Alum block. The only time is on the rare occasion. I nick myself. I just put it on that to stop any weeping other than that never use it.
I’d say my one will probably last me the rest of my life

Backspace about 15 years or more when I was beginning to rethink the whole business of shaving, I went through a spell of using alum after every shave. After a couple of months I got sick of it, since it made my skin itch. Given that I shave head and face, that's a lot of itching.

I still keep a styptic pencil handy though, for those occasions when I get careless. (My post-shave shower fixes these up 99% of the time.) I also now know to keep one in my wash bag for when I'm travelling, as it only took one answer of "¿Que? I know nothing, I am from Barcelona" at any pharmacy to have learnt that lesson. When you don't have one is when you'll definitely need it.

I also get itching and dryness from alum.
Tried it several times but won't use it on my face ever again.

But i do use it daily as a deodorant. Most effective thing I've found... It'll prevent odour even in 45°C heat!!
