Hi All,
I'd been toying with the idea of DE shaving for a while now, but it was actually a post on a blog about webservers that ended up getting me here !

As a bloke with a course fast growth and sensitive skin shaving has always been one of those disgusting chores for me. I've just ordered a Merkur 34c and look forward to learning how to make it work best on my face. Looks like there are lots of hints and tips I can pickup here.

Welcome aboard mate. Great first choice....you'll look back on it fondly....if you can find it again amongst the 46 DEs, 27 straights, 19 SEs, 84 brushes, 26 stones, 9 strops, 44 soaps, 53 creams, 22 croaps, 47 aftershave lotions, 18 aftershave balms...

...and for now what's your first soap and brush of choice?
 
Thanks stillhunter - I can see from the forum it's going to turn into an expensive hobby !
At the moment I just went with the Mens Biz badger brush and some Proraso green. I'm tempted to try to get hold of some of the P&C latha though.

Sagely choice the B&M Latha - though I fear you'll not use the Proraso again...just being honest mate. Keep an eye on the BST here mate, saw a nice starter brush go for like $30 delivered.. ;) Also watch for the PIFs...

The 34C was my first DE too and it is a fine and mild razor. The proraso green is a fine soap, I still go back to it in summer for that menthol kick. The pre-shave is great too if you like menthol.

Welcome @HairyScottishBloke! From the sounds of it, you're a prime candidate for a good shave. Report back on your maiden voyage with your new DE. Technique comes with experience so carry on and over time you'll get the hang of it. It's a fun journey. [emoji106]

Jeez @filobiblic , the guy's not touched a DE to his face yet and you're already buttering him up for a straight. Yeah, yeah you didn't say it explicitly, but man anyone can read it between the lines. Sheesh......

I'm sure a good Scottish laddie would enjoy a decent blade to his face... The thrill of danger runs deep in their blood.

Ignore the naysayers and enablers - you have a great first lot of kit. The Latha will be a great buy to fill it out.

You don't need to spend any more money than that for a while - trust me, I know. I've been on a sabbatical all year with no worries (1)

What Stillsy omitted mentioning was the 2kilograms of DE blades you require two boxes to store them in.
Two boxes you ask ?
