Illegal to send aftershave with AusPost?

What's the go here?
Considered a hazardous material and considerable fine for sending in the mail. The info on Aus post confusing.

Obviously ebay and online stores Full of perfume etc.

Commercial quantities can get exempt but it travels via rd not air?

We obviously sell a trade aftershave here. I've bought off private sellers on the bay.

Today a seller refuses to ship a vintage bottle UNLESS she tips out the contents as its illegal to mail. Won't budge.

Apologies if this has been discussed before but I thought it was only an international thing at times not domestic.

I don’t know if you are legally able to send aftershave by Australia Post but I say so many of us have done it over the years and signed the parcel for aviation, haven’t heard of a single person getting in trouble for it

There is your answer - it is the responsibility of the shipper. If she will not budge, she will not budge.

I've had a vintage soap and aftershave set, with an untouched soap (which is what I was after) and the aftershave bottle with the faintest hint of liquid left. Seller marked as soap and aftershave set and DESTROYED by eBay GSP, not even returned or any alternative postage solution offered AND ...

... many people may exceed speed limits or even drink drive - but nothing outside the law is recommended or condoned here.

Slightly of topic, but I thought that I would ask anyway as it is slightly relevant to the topic..

I do know from personal experience that it is difficult to send aftershave via international shipping.

But have you had an issues with shaving soaps alone (he says fingers crossed) as I have just bought a couple of batches of slightly used shavings soaps to eventually have shipped back to me from the USA to Au?

I never even imagined that they might get confiscated

Soap doesn’t have alcohol in it so you will be fine. I try and avoid shipping via the GSP if at all possible, I had the same problem with a vintage hat (made of fur felt).

Im the same after reading those before Mark posted them too

Sellers can get the exemption if they obtain the dangerous goods license. Just how many do that's another question. This seller won't budge though. .so no point especially when I can't point her to rule contradicting her view.

Obviously it's a little enforced rule..

Uh..i may have bought nearly 30 aftershaves in the last month from private sellers

I always thought that it’s a restricted item and that it couldn’t be sent by air.
Maybe I was off the mark here?

A few months ago I sent a bottle to Brisbane by normal satchel and I purposefully didn’t sign the declaration as it says something about “will not be carried by air”.
Got to the counter and the woman was like ‘sign here!’
I say ‘but it’s potentially dangerous goods and can’t go via plane!’
Her: ‘Doesn’t matter. Must be signed!’
Me: ‘Okay but it has to go by road and if not and the plane comes down, it’s not on me!’
Her: ‘No problem go by road’.

I guess she marked something on the parcel but it took over a week to get there.
