Just got into wet shaving

That is the exact one i bought fro the same seller actually...both posted from lalor, victoria and dissapeared at the post office...

Drubbing : Which brush is that again? I will let you know on Monday after i get an update from the seller.
Was going to like your post, then realised I'd be liking it disappearing too, twice.
At least we've decent tastes at the bargain basement end of the market.
Also, there is that bestshave's $5 brush some here rave on about that's an option.

Mark : Yea, but all it says is that its at Lalor, victoria, apparently having never left the post office...i asked around and apparently aus post cant narrow down the location to anything more precise than a suburb, so its little better than delivery confirmation.

Drubbing : Thanks, i will buy that from you if the seller cant get this thing sorted out.

Borked : Unfortunately i cant meet their min spend :(

Thanks, but i wouldn't want to get something that expensive for free, especially since the postage alone would set you back quite a bit.

Ive got some good news though, aus post finally managed to figure out where the second package is, with any luck i will get it today...

Ive got another problem though, i still cant seem to get a full shave done. It feels really smooth to the touch, but i can still see a layer of black spots (what i assume to be the roots of the moustache) and from a distance it kind of looks like i didn't shave at all.

Any ideas? I'm pretty sure its not blade angle as i can feel it cutting, but i do have to make two or three passes each (with soap of course) both for WTG and across. Against the grain seems to do nothing for me oddly enough. For that shave, i was using a new astra platinum blade that came with my sample pack.

It's not expensive...

As for the shave, you aren't going to ever look prepubescent - you're hair growing out of your face. DE razors don't cut below the surface of the skin like carts, which have a pull/tug effect. With time and practice, you'll get those flecks, but you're still going to look like a bloke who shaves.

Ignore such boring suggestions. Your best bet is to get your wife/girlfriend/mother/anyone you know who wears makeup to match your skin tone to some form of makeup. Then get a really really fine brush @Drubbing might send you a hair out of one of hi shredders) stand in front of a mirror and one hair at a time apply the makeup. This will hide all those ugly black bits and, as long as you don't sweat, drink any liquid or lick your lips you should be fine for about an hour or so - well worth the effort (of course another alternative is to not take close up pictures of your lips). Hmm, thats odd, i thought part of the appeal of DE shaving was that it gives a much closer shave? If cartridges can get the hair roots, doesnt that mean they actually give a closer shave than DE razors?

Ive seen some guys with really smooth shaves...almost as if they had no hair at all. Always wondered how they did it...i wonder if they really use makeup for it?

It also leads to irritation and in grown hairs. Even if they don't, $5 a cart isn't worth it, when getting a smooth shave with a DE just takes practice.

Congratulations - you are blessed with fair skin and dark hair. Nothing much you can do about that I'm afraid :(

I have thick, coarse dark hair (according to my hairdresser it is really strong and like steel wire) but fortunately I have an olive complexion so it is not as noticeable.

A cartridge allegedly has a first blade that is blunt which tugs hairs out and then the second blade cuts (beyond that is a waste). If this was just an issue under the nose you could use a DE elsewhere and a cart there if it helped.

Otherwise just live with a 5 o'clock shadow being VERY sexy ....

Have you tried stretching the skin so it's taunt ?

Just more practice Question. You can see many hairs where you have cut it closer and it is smoother.

Failing that get a tan or grow a goatee like that hack shaver @JugV2 :)

Or grow a glorious mustache. My solution to the under the nose shaving (my mo isn't a Stalinesque extension of my nose hair) is through using a thin open comb razor, a vintage ABC. This also has it's drawbacks. Although you can get much closer to the nose and although it shaves really close, it still cuts me occasionally. You're never going to be able to hold a razor at the correct angle as the nose is always going to be in the way.

Or get the bottom half of your nose removed and then you could look like PJ's avatar :)
