Haven't had a chance to try it yet, so I'll leave you quivering in antici...pation of the results. Marco already knew it was a winner after getting an email telling him so from one of his undercover sources, but we're more rigourous than that. Likewise, those expecting packaging reviews, sorry wrong forum. It's a metal tube in a cardboard box and you squeeze it.

This is the Sandalwood and Shea butter flavour, just newly available. Scent is the sort of sandalwood those familiar with GFT's cream will know, but this is somewhat sweeter and more appealing, so it's cleared hurdle one. The GFT is a bit earthy for me and not really anything like any sandalwood I've encountered elsewhere.

WOW, that looks really cool, like an oversized toothpaste tube in stylish barbershop colours.

Like any Italian product it will be world's best - so why waste time with a review - just buy some everybody.

Remember though, two swirls to the left, then three to the right.....

I'm actually quite happy that this has come out. I always wanted Proraso in a Sandalwood scent so I am going to be ordering some soon enough.

I've had a bit of quiet time, but 400-odd Spoilers and Vintage Super Stainless on fleabay has woken me up. Couldn't swallow the $400 BIN however, but I was severely tempted.

I do not need to buy this cream.

I simply don't.

Ok ok, if there is a group buy let me know.

First impressions after one shave, then I'll leave it a while to get a firmer opinion.

Scent is nice. Similar to GFT Sandalwood but sweeter. The GFT is meh to me simply because of the price. If I pay that much I want to enjoy everything about the stuff and the GFT is just ok for scent. Works nicely enough though, but it is quite strong, too earthy.

Red is more subtle, the scent falls away a bit as as you shave. Lathers as easily as Green, will take plenty of water, makes loads of lather - feels odd not to get the menth/euc cooling though. Got a very close shave with the HD+Personna. Shea butter does seem to add some slide and moisturising.

I did push it a bit, so a little bit too close for comfort right under the chin; it is glassy though, and the personna can't always get that close. So let's call that user error. That's why first impressions are a bit skewed, you can introduce bias in a effort to test stuff out.

Nice finish too, the Shea seems to provide nice moisturising, which is its purpose. This is potentially very nice stuff, and for the price, some people YKW will be getting all tight in the pant dept over it.

It sounds like another quality product from the good folk at Proraso, which is not unexpected.

I was going to wait a bit longer and get a few more shaves done before saying anything, because I'm making a big call and could look stupid later. But I doubt it. I never bought this with any other expectation than it would be as decent as Green and hopefully smell nice; the 'ultimate' cream or soap is a bit of a big forum fantasy imo.

But this has floored me; it has to be the best cream I've used.*

I'm purely talking performance, as everyone likes different scents - but I like that too.

I've had similar results from all my favourite stuff - Tabac, Cella, Speick and even the Proraso Green. But only occasionally does that stupidly close, comfy shave occur with them. Like if I've 2 days growth on, or everything just flows. I've had those occasional results for the last 6 shaves with this stuff.

4 shaves were with the Personna, which I use a lot now. They're not particularly sharp but they're very forgiving and comfy. I wouldn't call them dull, but they are 'slower' than others. They just fly in this stuff and work like a sharper blade. 2 with the Yellows for the same results.

I only do 2 passes and have done for a long while now. I don't bother with ATG anymore, as for me, the risk/return ratio is naff for me on the neck and chin, and I'm really not fussed about getting that smooth. 1 WTG, 1 W or X, depending on mood is the norm. Then a last whizz around the chin. On me, this stuff feels like I've done an ATG all over. Maybe it just works really well with my skin.

The glide is nice, the cream is very protective, and my face feels really soft afterwards. I guess that's the Shea butter. Lathering up does take an extra dip or two of water, as it can be thick and start to lose a bit of moisture otherwise. I'm guessing that's the Shea again.

Smells are subjective, but as I said, if you like the GFT sandalwood, then this is a sweeter smelling version. Very subtle when lathered. Overall, I recommend it for those who were interested in giving it a go.

*Like scents, results will be subjective too, so don't set Lionel Hutz on me if you find different.

That's a big rap. That out gushes even Marco. Mark will have to pass on the Marco mantle here. Better than Tabac and Speick? I haven't yet used any cream or, aside from La Toja, any non tallow that can come close to that description. Unfortunately as I've decided to use up all my stock of soaps/creams before buying any more, I can't verify your findings for at least five years. Mind you, if I bump in to anything interesting in Europe I might decide to stock up for another five years.

SEE ^^^^^^^ What did I say?

Drubbing just confirmed the inevitable!

I have always wanted to try a sandalwood scent soap, but never got around to it. And I don't have any creams and always been tempted to try one.

Now look what you have done Drubbing! I really was tempted to get this without your review, but now you've ruined the product for everyone.

Someone who is a mod (hint), should change his title to "account hacked by Marco".

Smilies too!

:laugh::P

Edit: Sig changed.

Seriously though, just the fact that proraso made a sandalwood cream got me interested. And like jugs said, that alone has piqued my interest.

I thought I was pretty restrained, surely you've seen me gush much harder?

Hey, if it were just a good cream with a nice scent, it'd be no different to the other stuff I like. I've bagged the GFT sandalwood scent a bit in the past, yet compared this one favourably to it (WTF?). But the GFT sells for $40 a tub and this - doesn't. The GFT should smell fucking amazing for the dough.

But the Red is bloody good and I'm just as surprised that there's anything left that can surprise me. I don't mix up my hardware, so I've got a good handle on how it performs. I won't use that fkin acronym, but I can't say others will be as rapt as I am.

I only hope this bodes well for the ingredient changes to the trad. Green.

Unlike a lot of really good, really hyped products it's cheap too. I picked mine up from Maguire's on ebay delivered for $12, as only the Marco-approved places in the US that either don't ship anywhere outside Hawaii, or charge laughter prices to do so, had it in stock.

But now, I see Gifts and Care have got the lot in, and it's even cheaper. But their postage can be high. Only the last group buy tapered it down.

I'll take one if we get a group up.
OK I'm up with that, so consider yourself counted. I'll hit pojtr for contacts and info as it's not fair for him to do it twice in a row, but obviously I'd need some help without responsibility of course.
Also going to depned on the amount of interest from others, as Drubbing said, postage cost is an issue...
I'm in Nedlands, but I'm self employed tradie driving everywhere (in Perth that is you other lurkers LOL!) one per week at least

I'm in, if its easy enough to work out postage across to Sydney (I was going to have a look at the horsey brushes anyway).

I work in Osborne Park. Fairly central.

Once you get your order together contact Juan directly on: contacto@giftsandcare.com

I'm not sure what the postage costs would be as for the last order he selected a postal option that wasn't listed on his web site. He might have updated it.

Australian interstate express postage up to 3kg is $12.55. Regular is $1 less. So, if you poor interstaters are considering ordering just one item, a group buy is barely worth it. You'll have to forgive me for saying that with a tiny little bit of relish as it's rare that the tyranny of distance works in favour of us poor bastards in WA.

I won't be ordering anything. By the way if any of you missed out on the last group buy, I'd highly recommend the La Toja stick. If you don't use a stick just grate it in to a container. If you suffer from a brush fetish, a horsey is also a must.

I'm sure that all that Italian stuff will make it's way to local distributors as even the most ardent wet shaving sceptics amongst us appear to have been reduced to tearful converts.
