Restoration - Matching Set of 6 Yamamasa Kamisori

After a long wait I received a matching set of 6 NOS Yamamasa kamisori from the USA.

The blades still retain their factory edge and the case is in poor condition with a broken hinge and badly corroded latch.

My plan is to restore the case with new hinges and latch, sand the timber back to clean and wax, wrap the blades' gara (handle) in rattan and hon e all to shave-ready.
 
Over the first week of having these kamasori, I got to work on their gara. First they were cleaned with acetone and then given two coats of gloss enamel. Once that had set, I applied heat-shrink tubing followed by another two coats of gloss enamel. All this was to help prevent oxidation under the rattan wrapping.

These kamasori are now ready to be wrapped.
