Don't be silly Glen. You still haven't looked for or tried any of your Bakelite DEs. In spite of several promises! I'm just waiting for that inspired moment when you will come to the realisation that the TM just sucks compared to shaving with one of these ugly ducklings.

Todays shave. Yes you guessed it.

Tabac goodness
Frank shaving travel brush
The futur
...... And yes I think its week 1 w astra just finished lol

It's been a little while since I've posted an update, and sadly, I'm doing so from Melbourne and not the spectacular island of Sicily. Despite having a series of absolutely atrocious shaves, it was a great holiday and I got to eat (and drink) some of the best food and wine I've ever experienced. Definitely recommended for any of y'all who might consider yourselves foodies.

For the first time in a while, I've abandoned the GEM 1912 and returned to the iKon SB paired with an Astra SS. I like the blue ones just a little bit better, I think they're marginally sharper and that works for me. They're like a slightly less aggressive Super Iridium. I'd missed the great lather of Tabac while I was away, but there would have been little prospect of getting a usable lather in the shitty hard water of Catania and Palermo. The luxury of the Duke 2 was missed too, but the Blobby Foo is a great travel brush and did it's best. After 30 hours in the air to get home, having a shower and a shave was heavenly.

The Joy of the season to all!

Merry Christmas fellas, I hope you all have a good one!

Merry Xmas to all the crew of misfits that frequent this fine place :)

Xmas morning...

Ingrams menthol
Frankshave silver tip
Merkur 34C
Schlicky lots + 1
Alum
Asb

Damn nice shave. Feeling fresh.
Fridge stocked well with eats and brews.
A nice sticky wine and rum and whiskey aplenty for later.

Have a blast lads!

Today was a merkur blade in a shavett
Lavender TOBs
Simo milk churn
Osama ice

Bad shave first time to use a shavett in some time and I wasn't as gentle as I should have been. Merkur blade is also not a smooth blade. So today retired a feather blade and a merkur blade.

The cream in a cup worked quite well but looks so sad hiding in the bottom of that massive coffee cup.

Today was a merkur blade in a shavett...........

Oh the innocence! Astras and Merkurs. I used to be like that until I was accused of being a Philistine.

Anyhow......

Merrily shaving away with a Schicksa on god knows how many shaves.
Some Frankenbrush and the last of a stick of Speick.

All good of course.

Was sort of thinking about that. But of course I've got way too much soap as it is. Just acquired another stick of Irisch Moos at a ridiculous cost (postage mainly) from Germany. They're hard to deal with those Germans. Here I was thinking it was mainly an American thing, not comprehending that there are other countries you can send stuff to. Took the guy a week to update his Paypal invoice. Was considering lodging a dispute but ebay didn't really know how to deal with that.......a seller who doesn't know how to sell. It'll probably take him a month to get it in the post.

Can't be that much. How much of it do you really use? Give that to the poor.

I'm a miser. I use all of it. Even creating Frankensoaps out of bits I find rattling around, forgotten in the back of dusty drawers. I even use up soaps I detest, like Valobra with it's scent of scabby dog on a wet carpet.

Todays shave...... Not so good
TOBs lavender
Milk churn
Gillette platinum in the futur

Not a pleasant shave, some irritation and burn. But it was a smooth result. Hmm is the culprit the lavender or the platinum. Will swap the tabac back in for the verdict.

Ok todays shave was an improvement.

Tabac swapped in and TOBs swapped out.

Gillette platinum in the futur

Verdict the Gillette platinum is not as good for me as the astra's are.

Really nice smooth skin post shave but more tugging and irritation too.

Any platinum fans out there? Will post in trade section now......

Today I used both my R41 and Progress.

Both had an Aussie Gillette Stainless in them on maybe the third shave.

Proraso soap
Semogue boar

I had two days stubble to remove and it did it ok, nothing fantastic but no blood.

I'm determined to finish the pack of these blades and go back to some Voskhods. Since I have a couple hundred of the buggers I may as well use them.

Same as last shave for me.
TOBS Jermyn
EJ DE89
Aussie Gillette (3)
Thayers unscented witch hazel and
Natio AS balm to finish off.

I find the EJ is too smooth, not feedback about how much edge I am getting on my face, maybe its an angle thing, I'll keep using it for a while and see how I go.

The result is great, comfortable shave and smooth face.

Yesterday morning was shave #7 for the Aussie Gillette Stainless blade in the Slim. Loving the longevity. Did nick myself a little though, mainly due to carelessness I think.

Proraso Cream tube is now half done, and I think I need to order myself some software - Proraso Red (been out for ages) and my Jermyn St is getting low.

I've got no Jermyn cream at all, only a puck of the soap which is barely touched.

I miss Jermyn's scent. I need the cream immediately!
