Check RE store if your near Lake St in north Perth Juggy. Their shave stuff doesn't seem to move quickly. I was planning to get a bottle of the original Proraso Splash there soon, pretty sure they had the old label cream last time I was down there but obviously don't quote me on it...

I have really grown enamoured of the Alum. I haven't looked at my witchhazel for weeks. It's a subtle effect best discovered by ceasing use but I definitely think alum contributes to a much better general skin condition and a reduction in any red spots/pimples/ingrowns over and above the improvement from just DE shaving in general. Plus it let's you know if you have been a bit careless :cheesy: Witchhazel is good for this but alum is superior for me.

Alum! ARKO! starts with A and is a four letter word? It's gotta be good!

As the final seal of approval it's also suddenly acquired an exclamation mark too.

Ah but not quite as it hasn't made it into capital letters (yet)
Actually I like the idea that 4 letter things are good For example - Glen only has 4 letters - sadly Pjotr has one too many and Drubbing is right off the number scale :)

Northbridge.

I was there a couple of months ago. The Proraso does shift regularly. All the old stuff is gone.

North Perth...Northbridge...It's all the same to me. Too close to town!

Thanks for the corection Drubs. Would have hated for Juggy to make a wasted trip!

BEER! also has four letters

Bored Part 2

Ok photo of latest test subjects. I am assuming because the razor has a flared tip it is indeed some kind of flared tip and the blades are red paper wrapped ones.
In fact a Peronna Platinum no less!! Soap was some P160/P120 (never was good with numbers) that I bought from Nick. Brush was the closest one to hand - some kind of Boar.
As to the results - they werent bad but the shave itself lacked a certain pleasure factor. I am beginning to think short handled razors are not the go for me. As a test next shave will be a Personna in the Slim. Also I am expecting some Kouros after shave shortly so hopefully I will be able to try it all at once.

To be continued (and I know you can hardly wait :)

Kouros GT! Crikey that will be a sight/smell to behold.

Can't help but Imagine you hitting the streets of Mt Druitt Bee Gee's Style..."Well you can tell by the way I use my walk, I'm a woman's man..."

Had this sent through by some wag as well today...

The suggestion came from SWWISBF so who am I to argue.

I've got a tube of green you can have Jug. I'm not a great fan myself and only bought it because I could but I think they've now stopped stocking it in the "Little Italy" IGA in Stirling. Anyhow, let me know if you want it. You gave me a stick of La Toja a while back and I'm just about to crack that one open. What goes around comes around!

I've sort of lost the plot on if or not it's available at RE stores but if you want the tube PM me and I can leave it in the letterbox if you're out and about.

It seems to not be available.
I dont know when I will be over your way so just hang on to it and I will give you a heads up when likely to come by.

Anyhow BOT.

Been having a go with the SEs after a long spell being stuck in vintage DE blade land. Takes a lot more concentration. The usual routine of Featherweight for the first shave to take the edge off the blade then the trusty Bullet Tip micromatic. Wee Scot brush and La Toja. Gonna do the old SE thing a bit more regularly from now on.

Well, i've had my first DE shave :) I used the twist to open shaver given to me by JugV2 with the astra blade. For the cream i used the dj harris sampler 'almond' type. My first lather was a bit of a disaster, as i was shaving is started drying and flaking off. I stopped and tried again, this time i think i may have overdone the water as i could still see my skin under the lather, if that makes sense (but there was no air bubbles). Not sure how much of the cream i should be starting off with? The actual shaving was good, felt much smoother, no pulling. I kept forgetting the razor has two sides (hard habit to break). I managed to navigate the mole on my face without slicing it off and didn't have any nicks.
I just did WTG for the first pass, then XTG for the second pass on my lower neck. The overall shave it probably not as smooth as normal, but as advised, this is to be expected.
I finished off with the skin food sample which i like. Overall very happy for first time out :)

Still bored

As promised the saga does continue. Put the Personna blade into the Slim - Yucky poos. I am afraid this blade has to go down as a bit of crud. Even the greatest razor ever produced, the Slim, could not save this blade. In the bin with it and another visit to the stash is needed.

Wow that's a pretty unusual reaction to a Personna.

Blue or red?
