Razor ==> Gillette Rocket 'Parat'
Blade ==> Wilkinson Super Sword Edge @ 4
Cream ==> Yardley Gold Deluxe (Deluxe...I know right?lolll)
A.F ==> Aqua Velva Original Sport

Brush Smog 1305
Razor Fatboy (6)
Blade Feather (3)
Soap Tabac
Post Shave Tabac

All looks simple and was simply a top shave. Not sure who said a Feather in a Fatboy is all you need (I'm thinking @Drubbing ?) but they were on the right track, these two go together very well indeed. So smooth and a nice close shave. I was tempted to up my 6 but thought I'd not tempt fate as I have some meeting today that wouldn't benefit from shreds of toilet paper peppered across my face. So far Feathers have gotten on very well with all....soon I will put one in the Weber again - where my trepidation was born.

Forgot how good Tabac is. Not really used since using nothing but it during September last year. Well weather here is dismal so I thought I'd try a winter shave. Tabac should be the yardstick that all lathers are measured by - if it has better protection, glide and post-shave feel than Tabac then you keep it. If any of the three are compromised then bin or bst it! I'd even rate the scent...but I like woodsy fougere, so much so I finished with Tabac AS lotion....and the cologne.

Smog performed impeccably again. Hmmm...

Brush: Vintage butterscotch Simpson 'The Duke'
Razor: Barbasol 'Floating Head'
Blade: Schick Super Platinum - shave 7
Soap/Cream: Johnny Goodsir TMBR Shaving Soap
Aftershave: Johnny Goodsir TMBR Aftershave

After enjoying the MdC for a couple of days (it is taken from one of these @stillshunter in the 'Original' scent BTW) I thought I'd move to the Johnny Goodsir that @stillshunter gave me samples of.

Wonderful stuff, works well, smells great - a definite keeper in the drawer!

So many soaps, so little time ...

Brush: Edwin Jagger Best Badger Brush
Razor: Merkur 34C
Blade: Personna Lab Blue (1)
Soap/Cream: TOBS Sandalwood cream
Aftershave: Nivea Sensitive ASB
EDT: Mo-Stratos

Haven't used the 34C in a while... I really enjoyed it. Like having lunch with an old friend you haven't seen in ages...

First shave with the EJ BBB. I have lathered it a few times in the shower to get rid of the smell and help break it in a little. I was very unimpressed. Completely limp. Barely enough lather for 3 passes... Is this the same experience as others have had? I thought it was meant to be good value for money... If it keeps this up, it will be on BST in no time. Maybe I'm just not a badger man...

Similar to @stillshunter, poor weather means cracking out some winter scents. Ahh, TOBS Sandalwood, absolutely delightful, like a bowl of warm stew on a cold winters day.

That why some moisturise first (apply balm or oil) AND THEN add the (potentially alcoholic) aftershave. Just an option...

And some aftershave lotions are aloe and witch hazel based. No alcohol to be seen. [emoji6]
And those are the only ones I use :)

Well I've had 4 shaves since @stillshunter's comment in-line with my new daily routine; morning DE and evening straight. I knew I took my time to enjoy my shaves so I too timed myself. 30 minutes seems to be the DE average including soaking badger for a cold water shave, setting up towel & soap, 3 pass shave and clean-up missed whiskers, cleaning razor etc. 45 minutes seems the average for the straight including stopping with all the previously mentioned in a 3 pass shave and tidy-up. I was previously straits in the morning with DE in the evening but the DE seemed faster and "less hassle/easier" when getting ready for work (as can now be seen that I've timed myself). If you're gonna enjoy ya shave, take long enough to enjoy every detail. Shaving is no longer a chore but a time to retreat into the man cave and spend "me time".

Life gets in the way of enjoying your shaves. After @eggbert's hilarious shower escapade (hilarious for the rest of us anyway) I have a similar "shave halting issue". Northern Australia is synonamous with ceiling fans. Waiving my hands around I attempted to stop the metal blades with the side of my middle finger on my right hand (dominant hand) . Apart from removing a heap of skin and a bit of nail, my finger is bruised and currently masked with tape. I can not hold my straight for my evening shave and my morning shave with the DE89 is a struggle as the tape makes for a slippery hold on the razor. The last time I put my hand in the fan (15 years ago) it became infected and I couldn't do anything for a couple of weeks. Hoping this time I will have dexterity and feeling back by Friday.

CRSW Original Spice Amber
Merkur 37c
Gillette Goal (3)
Plisson Synth

The CRSW smells fantastic - lathers off the charts, the Gillette Goal's are solid little blades - easily as good as the Yellow/Green SOC versions. Finding it very hard to reach for anything but the Plisson almost to the point where I feel I have to force a shave with one of my boar/badgers just so the Plisson doesn't hog them all to itself!

Ouch! Let's hope it doesn't get infected and you're back in action on Friday.

Fan...tastic story.
Hope you make a full recovery without complications like last time.

Le Grelot 68 Le Petit Coiffeur, 5/8 Quarter Hollow, Round Point

I like Le Grelot razors, including this "Le Petit Coiffeur", although not in perfect conditions - the one who owned it before I bought it did not a good job in honing, the point in particular - but it is however a lovely shaver. As for the soap, Martin De Candre is among my favorite ones and their "Fougère" fragrance is very charming. A good shave ended with my beloved Bay Rum, round and smooth, it has been the perfect companion.
  • Pre-Shave: Roberts Distilled Rose Water
  • Soap: Martin De Candre Fourgère
  • Brush: Omega Syntex 90081
  • Bowl: Gerby Bowl
  • Strop: Mastro Livi Loom Strop and Hand Palm
  • Razor: Le Grelot 68 Le Petit Coiffeur, 5/8 Quarter Hollow, Round Point
  • Post-Shave: Umbrian Extra Virgin Oil
  • After Shave: RazorGuy Bay Rum

As far as I can tell, this is an old Mastro Livi straight razor. It certainly is not a recent production. The blade is made from Damasteel (that is, a stainless damascus steel made by Swedish Damasteel) and the scales are made from the very expensive mammoth ivory with abalone inlays. It is hard to tell whether this is the right price for this razor, what I can tell you for sure, Mastro Livi does not make mammoth scales anymore because he ran out of it and it seems to be very very hard for him to get it again. Being an old and rare Mastro Livi razor (as a matter of fact, every Mastro Livi razor is rare as each of his masterpieces are just unique and never replicated) I guess this is the reason the price is like that. As far as I can tell, a Mastro Livi razor with a blade made of Damasteel is much cheaper than that, however scales may affect price quite a lot, in particular in case they are made from precious materials such as mammoth ivory and abalone.

Another great start to the morning! Definitely need some winter flavours - a fresh start to the day here in CBR -

Feels like 5.2 degrees - in January :(

Bring on that global warming I say!!!

Brush: Omega 31025 'Scarlatti'
Razor: Merkur #25
Blade: Feather (5)
Soap/Cream: Cella
Aftershave: Myrsol Antesol

Went all red this morning - anything to try and warm things up. Thankfully didn't spill any 'red'. On the whole quite a good shave, though wasn't so impressed by protection offered by the Cella - maybe it needs more work on my behalf.

I suggest you bury a time capsule to be opened 15 years from now. Put a piece of paper in it saying "Avoid all fans this year" (maybe history won't repeat itself) :)

Which ones? Stirling? B&M? Other? Do tell! [emoji4]
Thayers and Stirling splashes. I have Stirling balms at home but haven't tried them yet. I also like Burt's Bees aftershave balm and sometimes I even go back to my Proraso balm...
