Last week’s setup featured a rich, pleasant lather and classic scent from Timmermann Red Label 1869, paired with a reliable scrubby badger brush and a razor and blade combination that delivered a surprisingly smooth and efficient shave.

Soap/Aftershave:- Timmermann Red Label 1869
Brush:- SMILEZ4MILEZ Grapevine (AKA The Shedding Dog)
Razor:- Gillette Aristocrat #15
Blade:- Aussie Spoiler

Sunday’s straight razor was incredibly sharp — not painful, but sharp enough to leave my face feeling like it had been kissed by a thousand tiny micro cuts. Probably says more about my technique than the blade.

Soap: Eufros - Gea (sample)
Razor: Wolfman WR4

Of course I said "yes please" when @silverlifter generously offered me a "smush" from his tub of Gea. And so here we are, a small brown paper envelope having miraculously been transported some 1600 miles from the Land of the Long White Cloud to Tasmania in a matter of days. Thanks @silverlifter (y) (y)

I never doubted the veg base of this soap would impress. If soap making can be done this well, I really see no reason to bother with tallow any more. It's seriously good. I had wondered if the scent might be "too much", but not to worry. Right now, with the sun blazing away in his firmament, and the weather becoming balmy with the promise of summer, the scent is glorious. For those who have tried Noble Otter's Rawr, it smells remarkably similar (at least to my recollection). I do like neroli and bergamot.

Maybe I wouldn't appreciate it so much in winter, but I've come to accept that I could be wrong in my focus on year-round scents. I'm not too old to learn...
