I haven't used the SV 70th for some time - as you can tell!



Definite separation in the aftershave. A bit of googling indicates that this is not uncommon. A vigorous shake or five and -



Almost there. Still a little 'lumpy' on application. Still all in all -

How do you rate Gondolier?
It was one of the first soaps that got my attention. Yet, somehow, I never got my hands on it.

This was first use. I scored the PAA soap and AS lot from @nsavage and working my way through them. The soaps lather up really nicely with good face feel. I think they miss some silk or clay content but performance is adequate. I think the clincher for me is they use essential oils and/or? fragrances. I much prefer essential oils and I think Gondolier is scented with essential oils as the scent list all looks as such, so I find Gondolier more user friendly (the scent is very nice). I don't have the AS for Gondolier. I was wearing PAA CaD AS the other day when my wife was unwell and she told me to go and wash it off as CaD is fragrance instead of EO. She is the same as me, tolerates EOs much better than fragrances. So.. very glad I scored it (Gondolier) to try but probably wouldn't buy it again, remembering that this is my first use of it and I did enjoy it and may change my mind.:)

A wonderfully happy shave with the Wolfman - super close and smooth. The beautiful Mike's lather just added to the perfect experience.

Re-lather and rinse

A slightly harsh DFS+ as per usual from a new Feather pro blade. It takes a couple of shaves to take the harshness out of it. Great care is required, which is rewarding in its own way... there is no substitute for an open blade in terms of feedback and improving your technique!

Start with an Artist Club and a Rockwell on plate 6 becomes like using a disposable! Everything is relative... although I would recommend trying plate 6 after you have finished with a blade on a lower plate first. Either a new, super sharp blade in a low plate or an older / less sharp blade in a higher plate for effortless shaving.

While I enjoy the skill development inherent in using a "straight", I have to admit that if all you want is an excellent shave with minimal thought or risk, then I haven't found a way to beat a sharp blade in a mild razor...

Hmmm, overnight the aftershave had seperated out again -



Even with a couple of good shakes it is still a little gloopy - might have to substitute the Aqua di Sydney, I think that will work?

Usually I have an idea the night before what shaving soap I want to use next morning. Was hunting through the soaps this morning and found Group Captains Blend. Perfect. I'm thinking I need a spreadsheet for my soaps. :watching: :)
