Shave of the Day Thread - 2017

Pre: Proraso Green Pre/Post
Brush: Omega Boar
Soap/Cream: MWF
Razor: Rockwell 6S (4,4,2)
Blade: Feather (5)
Post-shave: Alum, Emu Oil, Myrsol Formula "C"

Not sure what happened tonight, but I looked up at myself after the second pass and saw Norman Gunston...
Anyway, the third pass was less eventful, however the shave was a little sub-par and post shave was a little tender.
One of the nicks needed the old styptic pen to come out...
I'm pretty sure the blade is not to answer, it wasn't tugging or pulling at all - just slicing my skin rather than the whiskers.
I'm just gonna put this down as "one of those shaves"...

Sounds like every single one of my experiences with a Feather blade - no tugging or pulling - just butchering my face :( :( :(

It's weird, this is the 5th shave with that blade and I hadn't had any real problems until tonight...
I'll give it another go on Thursday and be sure to concentrate more on my technique - as I think that's where the failure is... :(

@alfredus & @Normie have you guys tried KAI Stainless Steel DE blades is less sharper than Feather blade and also smoother is worth trying ??

Kai's are fantastic and I really enjoy them. However I didn't get more than 2 shaves out of one either - at ~50AU$ per 100 delivered, that is not viable for me...

A superb lather this morning from the L+L Chatillon Lux, the Bison tallow is just so incredibly slick and provides a superb amount of cushion, being a big Fougère fan the break from the relentless heat and humidity for a couple of days made the choice simple, I know the cool won't last but I am enjoying it while it does. A deep, fern accord from Chatillon Lux which suits me to a tea, two passes and a nice warm rinse off then on with the salve, splash and EDT making for a perfect start to the day.

Thanks mate - recovered now but boy was it an 'exciting' 12 hours or so!

Not just the sub-continent and Asia where you need to be careful it seems...
 
Preshave: Facescrub banh soap.
Razor/Blade: ATT R1 w/Unknown Gillette blade.
Brush: Muhle badger
Soap: The shaving shop's "Springtime in Paris"
Post shave: Thayers scentless, Myrsol emulsion, "springtime in Paris" aftershave.

5th shave on this Gillette blade and its still going strong, impressed with them (Y)

Brush: Semogue SOC Boar
Soap: Haslinger Schafmilch
Razor: Wilkinson Sword Sticky
Blade: Vintage Wilkinson Sword French Brown (1)
Post: Myrsol Antesol and Emulsion
Splash: B&M Cologne Russe

First shave with the Wilkinson Sword Sticky. Decided to pair it will a vintage Wilkinson Sword blade. And my go-to soap - Haslinger Schafmilch.
Took me a short while to find the angle, but once there, it was a breeze. Mild but efficient is a good way to describe this razor. DFS after two passes, but with the luxurious lather and the mild feel of the razor and blade, extended to a three pass shave and clean-up for a BBS result. Great post-shave feel. Really impressed with this razor - it is a lovely bit of design, and shaves a treat.
Whilst more modern, it kinda reminds me of bauhaus work, in that it combines function and form beautifully, and strikes a balance between modern and traditional materials. A wee bit of research and it all becomes clear - this razor was designed by the renowned British designer Sir Kenneth Grange. Well played, Sir Kenneth!

Great choice with the Wilkie Double. The design of the Sticky is pretty cool - he also designed trains amongst a whole pile of things
