Speaking of Whisky, that Fumidus had a nice smokey, peat, Islay vibe going on for a while yesterday, loved it. Probably the dirtiest, manliest vetiver fragrance ive ever sniffed.

The Old Type is very mild like the Merkur 30C, but still efficient. For $19 you can't go wrong, the stainless handle would be worth that.

Thoughts...
- With the recent arrival of my Souplex and the news from London, I thought an English shave was in order.
- The Souplex is BRILLIANT. I thought a DE with two different aggression levels on either side of the head would be silly. No. Not when they are set so well. The aggressive side of the base plate is a bee's doodle off the R41. Yep. That aggressive. Loud and proud, it slayed 2 days growth in two passes. The mild side is a just that and great for pick-ups, ears etc. It's a lively BBS RESULT. Yet again a vintage razor shows us how it should be done. Modern makers could do worse than model this. I feel so lucky to pick up a bakelite like this in such good condition.
- Woods of Windsor has a light scent and a wonderfully strong burn that dissipates quickly. I'm an oily bastard so face feel is spot on for me but shavers with less oily skin might find it drying; it is more cologne than aftershave.
- Finally, the 70 year old travel kit sums it up best...

Ahhh what a day!
I have spend the past few Saturday mornings working on a friends car which has been immobile for 2 years and today I got it running and he is over the moon, so good to be able to help someone out.
As to token he gave me a bottle of
Mars Iwai Bourbon Barrel Japanese Whisky
Needless to say I was floored, such a kind gesture and I've never had this whisky.
So as a celebratory shave tonight it will be;

Not as easy to maneuver as the guerrilla handle, and had a couple of little creepers. It's still not a daily driver for me, but will keep hold of it I think. Very efficient and still BBS now hours later. Definitely prefer the lighter and shorter handle (will have to try to find a good looking sub 60g, <90mm handle).

Something like that yep, but not a fan of the look. Love the barber pole type handles so will have to do a search tomorrow. Cheers though buddy
