Welcome to the Blackbird holy grail
Pre-shave: Hot towel
Brush: Symmetry Turning - Jurassic Park
Soap: Noble Otter - Lonestar
Razor: Blackland Blackbird Titanium
Blade: Astra
Post-shave: Noble Otter - Lonestar splash
The Blackbird gave an awesome shave, very smooth and it felt very safe. The one thing that surprised me though was the amount of noise it made in the way of feedback, I really wasn't expecting that from a razor with such little blade exposure.

I don't think so, I believe they are referring to the way the handle fits up against the plate. It wouldn't make sense to have a different thread.

I guess I was more referring to the mixed metal. I know the titanium feels quite gritty when you screw it on (i initially thought there was sand or something in there), so was just thinking maybe the stainless steel and titanium wouldn't play nicely together. But I have no idea about this sort of thing

Shave Result: SaltLake soap produces a quality medium density creamy lather with excellent performance attributes, it is also well priced (AU$25 for 200gm). The scent smells of fresh Lime&Lemon Citrus and Lemongrass with a solid scent strength 6/10. Parker 78R is classified as a Unisex razor and I found it milder than other 3-piece Parker razors I’ve tried, for me the aggression level similar to the Merkur 34C.

I remember back in November '89 it hit 46⁰ right in the middle of Perth on Adelaide Terrace. For some reason, the official records don't mention it, but we had a horribly uncomfortable office lunch that day.
I spent a couple of months working in a Servo in Elliot, halfway between Alice Springs and Darwin. I was there in November and December, so I got to enjoy my first build-up. In the first 7 weeks there we didn't have a day below 40C, and we hit 46C a few times. Every day was 85% plus humidity. If I did the morning shift, every so often in the arvo I'd head out and play 9 holes before heading back to rest in the pool with a beer. Thankfully the pool was only about 3 metres from my door. We finally got a little bit of rain during my last 2 weeks there, but there wasn't much to it. If we were lucky it would get down to 30 overnight, and after a few days I figured out that getting out of the shower and just putting my clothes on without bothering with a towel actually cooled me down for a few minutes.
I was staying in a Atco hut with an AC unit that was stuck on flat-out. You'd go to bed and wake up half an hour later, freezing cold, so you'd turn it off. Half an hour later, you'd wake up sweating and turn it back on and go back to sleep. Half an hour later... you get the picture.

Thanks for the well wishes everyone. Back home with mum and bub, both doing well. Bub is certainly making her voice heard when she's not happy but overall she's feeding and sleeping well.
@klinker yes with two girls it's hard to not have the cliched feelings of an overprotective father even though one is supposed to be a modern enlightened male
. A friend of mine was trying for child years ago, he said if he had a girl he was looking forward to teaching her about the world and equipping her with the skills and mindset to navigate the world as it is.Then he had a son and said instead now he has to teach his son not to be a dick
