Shave of the day

The Fat
Silvertip Badger
Merkur 34C
Permasharp Super (#4)
Proraso Splash

Brought up a couple of weepers with a lazy ATG on my upper lip. Stupid brain.

Speick stick
Wee Scot. Never fails to amaze. The perfect face latherer.
Bullet tip
GEM PTFE on No 4. There's a few more left in this one.

Merkur slant - vintage
Personna Blue Labs - shave one
Proraso M&E - pretending it is summer when it is still dark and stormy as I shaved
Semogue 1305 - giving the MC a break
Proraso M&E Balm
T&H Spanish Leather

The slant was much milder than I expected.

MWF stick.
The Wee One.
Bullet tip with GEM on No 5.
ABC with Astra. Without doubt the most aggressive of OCs I've used. Absolutely perfect for trimming duties but very unforgiving.

Aside from a little operator malfunction nick adjacent the mo, the perfect shave.

Long time inbetween 1912 shaves for me.
TP SE blade had 4 shaves in the LC, starting to show. I was going to toss the blade but thought I'd try the blade in another razor. Using an old blade in a MM scares me, so I put it in a 1912 british made ornate handled ever-ready.
Went back to cella and the simmo
Had a very good shave, the 1912 seems to do a good job with older blades, better than a MM or LC would. I will use it again tomorrow.

Mind you I didn't shave yesterday, and my 2 day growth is more than the average persons 4 day growth, so I was going to switch to an open comb DE today. Long stubble easier to cut, skin more rested etc. Te real test will be tomorrow after just a one day growth and this old blade and this 1912 razor.

My first shave since the bump/ingrown hair shave.
Got rid of the derby from the EJ and used an Astra instead.
Nanny's Arabian Nights soft soap
FS finest badger
and some Speick aftershave to finish off.

The soap description says
Scented with essential oils including Frankincense, Myrrh, Cedarwood and Bergamot. Sweetly balsamic, an unusual and lovely scent. The scent of this soap is quite strong.
but it doesn't say that to me. It's not offensive, just nothing special in my book.

The Astra blade seemed a bit catchy, but I am not sure if that was because there was 5 days of growth, or because my face was drier than usual when I put the lather on (which i had lathered in a mug).
Shave around the bump, and as per instructions two passes only, one WTG and one XTG.

Followed Pjotrs lead, and gave myself a tiny nick just under the nose, but not a bad shave.

Was going to try a different blade but decided to come back to items I have (mainly) tried before.

Well that's what happens when you follow pjotrs advice, IIRC he cut himself too! /jk

As far as the new astra blade being grabby, that should never happen. Definitely bad soap/lather or technique. Astra blades you shouldn't even feel.

I guessed it was a lather issue.

I have gotten to used to how easy it is to get great lather with the proraso cream, and am expecting to do as little work with soft soaps as with that.

I've not even tried a hard soap yet.

Merkur slant - vintage
Personna Blue Labs - shave two
D R Harris Arlington Cream - see below
Milk Churn
Lucky Tiger
Geo F Trumper EDC

I know Drubbs raves about the Arlington and it certainly works OK, nothing special though, but the scent is, well, just like Arko! :omg:

This was a sample I received but truly why would you buy this stuff when Arko is cheaper and produces a great lather.

The Trumper EDC I'm sure I have had as a sample so when I saw a nearly full bottle on the B/S/T over there from an Aussie member I grabbed it. Bad move, my wife hates it! Says that it smells of old woman - enough for me to say I'm ditching it! Anybody want to buy some cheap cologne?

Ah hahaha! Can't wait to read Drubs rebuttal.

I got a bit sunburned at Lancelin so will forgo the shaving until the skin is a bit happier.

Vulfix 2189 boar/badger. Great all rounder. Has got the best of both worlds.

Tabac. Can't go wrong.

Bullet tip with GEM on No7. Sorry folks, I forgot to post No 6. I'm sure all you dilligent readers picked this mistake up. Maybe a little bit tuggy in places but if pushed it could go for a few more. It won't, as I'm starting another run with the Streamline. Great shave nonetheless.

The Streamline looks postively scarey with a brand new blade. I've always taken the first edge off with a Featherweight so this is a bit of a gamble.

........it smells of old woman.......

I can get urinal puck or flea pit motel references when it comes to scents, but old women? I'm intrigued. Can you describe it in a bit more detail yourself, before you ditch it.

'Geo. F. Trumper Eau de Cologne is Mr Trumper's very own Cologne, very carefully blended as an ideal all-purpose preparation. Distilled from the flowers of a variety of a different orange trees, the spirited notes of neroli resonate with the crisp, upbeat notes of lemon and bergamot. Such striking, vibrant notes are lavishly blessed with the rousing, herbal, woody warmth of rosemary.'

Well that is how Mensbiz describe it and it is certainly citrusy - which is why I put it on after the Arlington with the Lucky Tiger in between (both of which had gone before I did BTW).

I think what my wife was trying to say is that the scent is reminiscent of those worn by women of a certain age - so it is clearly not something for a virile middle aged bloke like myself to get around in.

Have I convinced anybody to buy it yet? Going cheap!

See previous posts - no change
But the next one is all change - for the blades anyway
Will put a new SE into the ClogPruf and get all brave a put a Feather into the Slim.

Should be fun (or messy)

Will be fine, just a light touch is all that is needed.

Don't be afraid of the Feathers

Hmmmm...I sort of remember you trying to give some stuff away recently.

LOL - true. Hard enough to give away - sales not an option!

All right, back on track:

Valobra stick-Yummy, the scent of a camping ground ablution block. Can't wait to see the end of this stick. It's been hanging round like a foul smell for far too long. Fantastic lather though.

Vulfix 2189 boar/badger.

Ever Ready Streamline with GEM PTFE on No 1.

A careful shave. No problemmo.

Hmm, sounds, well, just let me say that I've not tried this and was thinking it should be on my list - it is just off it. Arko is all I need like that

You should try it. Just don't PIF it to me if you don't like it. Some love it and just think it smells "soapy". The lather is as good as Tabac or Speick. That's saying something in my book. Haven't tried Arko yet. How about I grate some Valobra and send it to you and you do the same with some Arko?
