She sure is.
Yesterday was a day of firsts: She also upped her swimming-game and managed to swim across the width of the pool at her swimming lesson. (about 10m).
This was the first time I've ever seen her "properly" swim; rather than just muck-around.
Oh, and today I'm submitting her paperwork to enrol her in pre-school (starting January 2019).

... I'm going to stop typing. I'm getting teary-eyed. :cry:
 
Had a midwife appointment and another attempt at the hearing check.
Midwife went great Felix has surpassed his birth weight and then some!
His third attempt at the hearing check had my wife and I a little stressed, this was his third attempt and if he failed it would mean working with a specialist (Audiologist I’d guess) fortunately he passed and feeling that stress melt away was so releaving.
 
@Ferret619 I’ve been deaf and lip reading all my life and I know how both of you are going through this difficult situation having a deaf child, if you and your wife want to have a chat with my mother and to fully understand the right way to communicate with your child growing up being deaf. PM me and I’ll give you my mother contact details to give you and your wife some comfort zone, how to support your child living in a deaf society.

Hey @SpeedyPC thanks kindly-
By the looks the assessor belived that due to him being delivered early and in the more “aggressive” manor than is natural-it’s likely that fluid had built up and fortunatly having growing a little and bottle feeding he had managed to clear it and is now in “normal” ranges.
As a sidebar may I ask, do you use Auslan?

No @Ferret619 my mother wouldn’t allow me to used Auslan as in Australian sign language my mother forced me to lip read since I was two years old, been lip reading for more then 43 years in the real world. I’ve been wearing a Cochlear Implant for 20 years since the hearing aids wasn’t powerful enough as I got older, when my hearing got worse over the years since I wear normal hearing aids

Edit:- I cannot believe I’ve had my Cochlear Implant for 20 years now since 1997 :wideyed: Holy SH:eek:T!

Given our shared interest I’m sure that adds an extra degree of complexity to your work-
I’ve been interested in learning Auslan for the past few years but of cause haven’t set aside the time yet.

You only need to start learning Auslan only when you’re child is ready to start learning at the age of two or three years old

Well as per my above posts I won’t NEED to at all but in terms of learning another language it something I’d like to do

That is a long time! I have a couple of folk with hearing loss (or complete defness in one case) in the family by marriage and all are skilled lip readers, as a kid growing up I had no idea at all.
Talking music with them as a kid before I had realised and seeing how they felt the music really stuck with me.
I remember a distant relative sitting on the floor during a holiday laying down some real skanky bass lines- looking back as a guitarist now his timing was phenomenal and if often wondered if learning in that way as the reason or just his intrinsic skill

I made some kickass LEGO last week- the nephews faked enthusiasm then knocked it over- I ate the last of the chocolate to get them back

Right in front of them too
