They are pretty small at 37mm though.

PS his budget was $4-600 so the tuna I posted is well within budget

Yeah that's just the one that Stills linked to on Massdrop, although there are four colourway (SNK803, SNK805, SNK807, SNK809) options. Price is 62USD shipped... very cheap!

Seiko almost make too many nice watches for their own good don't they?
 
All depends on what you want. The SKX007 is probably the starting place although there are other great watches around if you want to look. Seiko Monsters, Tunas are also worth a look.

I did note you are looking for a Diver, I would highly recommend trying to wait for the Obris Morgan Aegis of which the second release is delayed. Amazing watch for the price, Miyota 9105 too although I expect the price to rise significantly.

I also highly recommend the Steinhart Ocean Titanium 500 Premium. Expensive, but an amazing watch and definitely one to last you for the rest of your life with the odd servicing. I am going to buy one in the near future.

Melbourne Watch is coming out with the Sorrento later this year. Pricing would be about $550 on prorder sometime this month. They look amazing:

You could also look at Docvail's 'NTH' subs preorder which are homages to the old Rolex Submariner & derivative brands like Tudor - I love the Naken Modern & the Oberon. Still $600-ish plus postage for October delivery for a Miyota 9105. Still very good value compared to the Steinhart watches which are the orginal Sub homage yet also amazingly well built.

Something on the cheaper end of the scale is Bernhardt - a small brand based in the US. They do goo watches ate great prices - The Corsair has a 9105 which is great, also the Binnacle Diver slightly cheaper which reduces to a Miyota 8215. I have an 8215 in my Melbourne Watch 'Hawthorn', no issues.

The supply for Miyota 9105 and even Seiko NH-36 movements is very constrained due to the demand from many of the MicroBrands, and also that Swatch Group are winding back supply of ETA movements to non-Swatch owned brands. Most of the demand is being filled by Soprod (Swiss), Sellita (Swiss) and Seagull (China) but everything is starting to get tight, prices are rising and Microbrands are delaying production to secure movements. You may be better of sticking to Seiko for the next few years until production increases to the new levels of demand.

Yeah do like the monsters! I can live with out the kinetics, seems to be not achievable in a tough watch!

You could go up to a Seiko Sumo but thats getting right up there in terms of size. That said the Sportura Kinetic GMT's are a nice watch, only 100m WR though.

Monsters are popular and moddable too. Same with any SKX model.

You can go cheaper with the Seiko 5 series but most of them have movements that are non-Hacking (does not stop when you pull the crown out) and non-Handwinding, meaning you need you movement to wind them up. My SNZH was like that, and thus sold it.
 
Hmmm, I can see a Submariner homage in my future after checking out some of these pics - lovely looking watches and FAR more affordable!
 
Certainly cheaper than a Tudor Black Bay!
