Wet shaving and blood thinners.

I wonder how the "older" wet shavers here [if there are any ] cope with the inevitable shaky hands, blood thinners and a sharp blade?

My technique is reasonably sound and I don't slice myself all that regularly and after all these years I still don't have a styptic pencil.. Just never think to get one.

I guess I qualify - except hand don't shake, Any slight cut is hit with the wet toilet paper trick and that stops it in its tracks.

My father was on blood thinners but still shaved the way he always did with a DE razor and blade. I guess his technique was good enough that he very rarely cut himself. When he did they were only small weepers but they did tend to bleed for a little longer. He had a steady hand even into his eighties which would have helped. You know he just took a little longer to shave so we should take our time and enjoy.

I've got a styptic, and alum, but rarely if ever use either.

Oh - I did use the styptic once when I sliced the mo' area when I had my mind on other matters one day.

Well FWIW chappies Himage is having another clearance sale of stuff - there's a few decent buys amongst the relatively well picked bones of their inventory but they're giving a free styptic pencil with every order (and thats on top of free shipping on ALL orders).

There's no screaming bargains (other than maybe the Omega brushes) but with the postage and that free styptic you;ve always wanted it's worth looking over.

PS. And as a long time Alum user on cuts I can assure everyone that it's well worth having a proper styptic instead. The powdered alum they're made of stops even the worst shaving cut super easily. I always thought they were overrated and for clumsy suckers where an alum would work just as well - wrong! Specialist tool for doing one thing only, stopping bleeding with just a tiny touch.

Toilet paper etc might kinda work but ya gotta pull that sucker off later and lets just say it doesn't look great in that interim period. Might be something you only need every few months BUT well worth having in your drawer for that one PITA cut that won't stop properly.

Any cuts, weepers of the type incurred with a safety razor will easily respond to a styptic pencil notwithstanding the use of a blood thinner.

A serious cut from a straight might be a bit harder to manage.

I don't have the courage to shave with a straight so I won't ever have to consider that scenario. My SE's are very good with blood flow an absolute rarity.
