Razor for a Lady?

OK, so in the interests of trying to think of something to buy my good wife for Christmas, my thoughts turned to a package of Lady shaving equipment, to replace the old cart hanging in the shower. We have had a discussion about it and she is open to trying out superior methods of shaving, provided it actually turns out to be so in terms of time / quality. So what does the brains trust think? Is this a worthwhile endeavour? And how can we improve its chances of success? I don't think we need to worry about a specific Lady version of a razor if a pink colour is its only distinguishing feature... are there other worthwhile features for ladies though?

I'm assuming a DE would be the logical starting point but I have not shaved with a DE before. Despite that, my uneducated thoughts are:
- Something adjustable in case adjustment is necessary?
- Long handle to help reach distant places?
- Big brush like an Omega 10098 for the same reason?

Whaddyareckon?

You're better off getting her a Synthetic Shave Brush 24/51mm rather than a Omega 10098 otherwise is going to take while for a boar too break in.

I recently purchased my special lady an Edwin Jagger long handled razor (handles come in different colours including pink and lilac) and I also picked her up a Maggards Synthetic brush (I would assume that most synthetic bushes will do a good job but this one came in a nice purple colour). Also picked her up some Stirling soap (they have lady specific scents). She is very happy.

Thanks guys - BTW what about the idea of a light SE like a Razorock Hawk? That way I will already have the blades for it and won't have to stock up on DE blades as well.

Of course, if I get a DE and she doesn't like it then I can try it... did I say that out loud?

Get the DE it's a lot cheaper than SE blade and I wouldn't get her a RazoRock Hawk I've read somewhere their a bit aggressive shave

Fair enough on the aggressiveness of the Hawk - and I can see it's out of stock again anyway - just to remind me why I don't like this company! Is there a mild SE that would be suitable for this purpose?

I'm not sure that's the case with the blades though. 200 Feather Pro blades from Japan can land here for around $115 from reputable sellers on the 'bay. I am getting a comfortable 10 shaves per blade so that's 5.75c per shave. After practice I should be able to get 50% more shaves per blade according to most accounts as poor technique with the Artist Club dulls the blade. I'm sure DE blades can be had cheaper than that but at that price it could be worth the convenience of not having to stock another type of blade...

It's all a lot cheaper than carts though... no biggie if there isn't really a suitable SE - it's just a thought.

The best place to get a proper feedback on SE Razor is at Badger & Blade forum because there are a lot of USA SE wet shavers with more experience will help you to answer you're question ;)

Cheers @SpeedyPC - I have spent much time on B&B already in my research! But yes, hard to find any ladies using SEs... there's probably a good reason for that.

Scrap that idea then - back to DEs - that EJ razor looks interesting... I was also thinking of a Rockwell 6S - the stainless is attractive if it's going to live in the shower as I strongly suspect it will. Management might not like an adjustable though due to the number of variables, on top of trying all the blade samples!

@RazorPlay I would get either a DE89 or R89 safety razor why?, because it's very easy to buy a replaceable head if something goes wrong, and I'm thinking maybe a Muhle R89 Double Edge Safety Razor – Rosegold see below might look good for her or a Edwin Jagger model #DELPI14BL, #DELLI14BL or #DELRO14BL long handle ;)

My wife has the Velvet with the leg lotion, she loves it. Just been on there and bought the intro ladies pack for my wife, she already has a razor and a badger, now she will have another brush and some more soaps with some new blades to try. Con is at the top of his game. Also gave me an excuse to buy that beautiful shaving bowl. Gonna look good on my sink.
