...............But I am only succumbing to peer pressure, I know I don't need them really.

That's better. Back on track eggy.

I've got a Black Beauty or the super adjustable or whatever it's called. In any case it's a Gillette adjustable. I can't imagine it'll be that different from either the Slim or Fatboy and given that I'm not overly impressed with it, I haven't seriously persued any other Gillette adjustable.

What have you tried so far GT?

Back off topic.

I do have the gold fatboy coming, and have a bid in on a slim as you all keep insisting that we try them. But I am only succumbing to peer pressure, I know I don't need them really.

Fatboy I didn't like the Slim is the creme de la creme of DE razors. PJ you have a poor imitation of the real thing.

Wow...getting slated by the Slim fan boys. All right.....all right. Who's got a user grade one I could try out then? I'll do a side by side with my BB.

I have the worlds ugliest ...

There is no such thing as an ugly Slim. One must look beyond any superficial blemishes to discover the true genius of the razor designers art. (I am quite sure if I could be bothered going through the history that the designer of the Slim, upon seeing the finished product realized he had reached the absolute pinnacle of his craft - smiled and dropped dead - his work on this earth completed.

Today's shave,

A simple affair:
HD
Spoiler (stolen from the travelling box)
Valobra Stick
TGN brush
Old Spice (white water?)

It was the usual 3 pass affair, loving the spoiler again! It's a smooth and sharp blade.

I have some irritation on the lover neck, from chasing BBS too many days in a row!

Lol - Damn Auto Correct!

Well I wasn't shaving down there this morning that's for sure!

LOL - I can see a custom tag coming on ...

'Member shaving his ...'

If only I was a REAL mod with the power to do that

I would be too scared to take the DE down there! Fate can only be tempted so far .... :P

Lucky your mod powers can't get me ...yet lol

Wash your mouth out egg. :)

Get your MUM off the Slim PJ!

Reprehensible conduct from a mod. I hope RM disciplines you harshly.

I don't wish to rain on the Slim love fest parade that's going on at the moment, but in response to SYDs dummy spit I decided to have another go with my Super Adjustable. Once again, I love the engineering and am impressed with Gillette for managing to manufacture and distribute these and other adjustables by the hundreds of thousands. But....as a shaving tool I think it's a blunt instrument. You know the feeling you get when you've got a ten pound hammer in your hand when all you want to do is knock in a pin? Wrong tool!

Admittedly my favorite razors are the exact opposite in every sense of the word, being lightweight bakelite three pieces of unknown or at best obscure makers, but I can shave with most things if I have to. Not with this thing. Unless the basic design of the Slim is radically different I can't see how it's going to shave any different than the Super Adjustable. For me at least

Very nice eBay buy this week. Strange only bidder; 10$us.
Razor: Neptune straight razor made in Germany. Reduced in length to 2 1/2 inch. Nicely done.
Brush: Turkish horse.
Soap: RazoRock 'de France . Not my favorite. Drys out very quickly.
Alum
AS: Thayer's rose.
Balm: Pre Provence
Pleasant surprise with a 10$ razor.

After a interesting wrestle with the Shavette on Sunday, which left me with two nice cuts on my face! I thought I would keep it short and simple today:

Two Pass TM shave
Gem 1912
HD
TGN brush
GZD Berber
Razorock Alum
Witch Hazel

It wasn't as smooth as I've grown accustom to with the 3 passes that I typically do.

But it will get me through the day!

Have been using my very own 'frankenrazor' recently. It consists of a British Gillette Goodwill head on a handle from a fat-handle Tech.
It's also my first experience with an open comb razor.

Other variables:

-Arko stick
-Tweezerman brush
-Speick balm

I enjoy the aggressiveness of the shave, but it does feel like I need to pay much closer attention to avoid cutting myself. At this stage, I think using something like my beloved Red Tip SS is a better combo of aggressiveness and convenience.

Couldn't wait to try the 34C so I cut short my open comb adventure and gave it a go:

-Merkur 34C
-Voskhod Blade
-Arko stick
-Tweezerman brush
-Speick balm

I'm officially a fan. Even with the Voskhod (which is what I'd call an 'average' blade) the shave was good. The 34C has a good weight and balance, and the results were excellent.

I'm looking forward to trying some of my other main blades in this- Astra, Rapira, Feathers etc

Despite being one of the few razors I haven't got the 34C seems to be very popular!
