Shave of the day

Those? There's only one.

Thought it was you and Drubs....

Ever since the Thomas method went global he's been unbearable. I blame you Mark.

Feel free. I'm a husband and father of three so used to it.

I must say that I'm a little dissappointed that the discussion of The Thomas Method (r) petered out at 58 posts and only 53 votes. I was hoping to make the century on debut. Of course there is always TSD but they are not as much fun to play with as YNW

tell them that he can spin his head around and spew green vomit

Now your thinking of Mark after he got a wiff of his "funky" smelling new brush.
(as an aside well done everyone on a totaly sidetracked thread).

Don't blame the NEW drubs. It's those useless Red IP's!

I wholeheartedly agree about the 34C though. Everyone should bow before it's pot steel and rough chromed magnificence!

No, I shave with a number of razors, both DE and SE. It's all evidenced in the shave of the day thread. Was just PIFed drubbings NEW. PIFed is not quite the correct word as he handed it to me in person after I handed him his latest re-knot. Will try that one tomorrow. Contray to most reports it doesn't on the face of it at least appear to be an aggressive looking razor. Not compared to the ABC where the blade edge is a lot closer to the edge of the comb.

I've tried too Mark. More brushes, soaps, blades, aftershaves you can poke a stick at but only one razor.

OK, now I'm confused :amazed:

I find the Old Types more aggressive but hey, what would I know!

Is that a squirrel?

If you don't know how are us mere mortals supposed to. As you are now officially our very own Marco a bit of adolation and sycophancy is in order.

And back to the topic:

The lovely Blobbie such softness coupled with a nice firmness when needed.
Cella (all enquiries to Mark(o) who I beleive has a 927 page treatise on the glories of this soap, its multiple uses and what to do if you want it to have your babies - all in ancient Italian)
Gem Featherweight with a shave 2 blade
First pass mowed down the crop lovely stuff
Re-lathered (and still had enough for another 2 or 3 passes - must find a way to keep the brush moist between shaves)
Gillette Slim - moved the Indian Wilkinson form the Red Tip to the Slim - it really is a lovely razor
Finally ran the finger tips across the face and used the Slim on anything not baby Bum smooth.
And people wonder why we enjoy this game. :)

It's not aggressive, it's just got teef. Perfect for the occasional shavers with a three day growth. At least that's when I bring it out, and really that's the market it was made for, back when men had beards and shaving every day was rare.

If I'm shaving daily, I'll use a 1912, my lather catcher, or the slim adjustable. But because I'm a rough as guts tradie, sometimes I don't shave every day, during those weeks I use the NEW or the MM CP every second or third day for some serious mowing.

What model NEW is it? I have the common bar too, but prefer my ball end NEW.
There's a lot out there that I want, (like the New Improved style handle NEW deluxe, or the british #77 - both of those have the guard attached to the handle), but I really don't spend money on this shaving thin anymore lol, so I'll stick with my ball end NEW, and my shabby older New Improved

From what I can gather it's a bar handle. And I think it's short combed but not too sure on that either. Don't understand the dating numbers on the plate, there are about 10 of them, so I don't really know what year it was manufactured. Not that it really matters I guess.

Looks pretty good actually. Nice looking razor. The plating's a bit user grade but I haven't yet hit it with any decent polish, just a quick toothpaste job. It's actually my third OC DE. It's been put next in the rotation.

Vulfix 2189 boar/badger

Tabac stick

Bar handled Gillette NEW with a Timor. Very nice razor. Although you can feel it's an OC, it's a lot milder than either the ABC or the Souplex.

Although I got the razor from drubbing it originally came from Mark(c)o's stable. So, I'd like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude and salute a visionary, expert razor guru for opening my eyes to the beauty of vintage Gillette open comb razors. Hail the master! I feel priviledged having shaved with a razor that passed through his very own hands.

Even with that amount of greasing you still wont get a shaving method named after you. (Anyway whats he got that your after?) :)

If I was a collector about 500 or more bits and pieces. Being an interested user I've now accumulated way too many razors so no intentions on that front either. However him being the antipodean incarnation of a high class razor priest and me being a low life member of the unwashed herd I'm just gasping for recognition and maybe a smilie or two.

WE all recognise as a low life member of the unwashed herd. :) :) (I know they are not as good as Mark smileys but better than nothing). :)

We had better stop this before it gets REALLY silly.

But not before a PIF.

But not before a PIF.

I was thinking of putting my hand up for this but as I started typing in the post I realised that even though I have only been in this game a month I think I have enough shaving related items either here, or on their way.
I already own
  • EJ DE89 Barley
  • A Gillette kindly pif'd by Pjotr (yet to be tried)
  • 120 odd blade samples
  • 100 Voskhods on their way
  • Aus Palmolive soap and cream
  • Proraso cream
  • Cheap Coles bristle brush (now relegated to travel brush
  • Frank Shaving finest badger brush
  • The cream lot from here (btw he packs items really, really well)
  • Alum
  • A small amount of Speick aftershave to try
  • Sandalwood soap, Ice & Slice cream and a few samples from Nanny's

Other than the aftershave, I reckon I have over two years worth of consumables, and am still at the stage where one nice brush and one razor are more than enough in these inexperienced hands.
