Talking of Cella. It's going down in my estimation a bit. As I'm using an open comb at the moment I find that it's good for the first pass but after that the lather just doesn't hold up for any subsequent ones. Seems to lose it's glide after sitting in the brush for a bit inspite of the fact that it's got the right consistency. Could be me not being super experienced using an open comb but the teeth seem to dig in and stop the normal glide. I didn't notice it with Speick or Tabc soap but I'll pay closer attention next time. Sorry Mark(c)o, don't send the Italian secret police after me.

Toaday's list of gear:

TGN Silvertip grade A travel brush.

Cella

Gillette NEW with a Shark SS. Have resisted an SE run in favour of playing with the NEW a bit more. Why is NEW always spelt with capital letters by the way? It's a very easy to use razor (with the right soap/lather obviously). It has the charcteristic bite of an open comb but nothing that seems to hurt or leave more than usual razor burn.

Cleaned it up a bit more using Mothers Polish. It actually states that it's not suitable for gold plating but it did a great job. Gone from user grade to near mint in appearance.

At $8 from Stirling IGA how can you not?....

Where is this famous Stirling IGA? If you google it there are at least fifteen IGAs in Stirling. They certainly don't stock it in my IGA which is also in Stirling.

It's the razor, not the Cella don't make me get all moddy again.

Sanderling St, off Cedric. The other 'Stirling' one isn't, it's gwelup. Or Doubleview.

IGA Stirling - Cnr Sanderling & Cedric Street, Stirling WA 6021, Phone: (08) 9344 5302 - Map and GPS Coordinate finder

If you get stuck after that, Glen will have to fly over and pick some up for you.

Pffffff....Mark(c)o's henchman. And he knows where I live!! An new avatar showing a thug would be good RM.

All right I might pop round if only to see that there is somewhere that stocks something useful. I gave my last tube away. I never go in to Stirling 'cause I always get lost. Here in Doubleview all the streets are aligned in accordance with 1950's Neanderthal planning principals in a strictly north-south and east-west alignment. Hard to get lost. Thanks for the link. The GPS coordinates are handy if only I knew how to use one.

@Glen - If you pay me half your airfare I'll send you a tube or two. Absolute bargain.

I would but I am still in shock after being responsible for Drubbing losing his Moderator's
innocence (And I think a thick red Censors pencil may be an appropriate Avatar). :)

Although I've seen the references to it I couldn't determine what it was about. You de-flowered Drubbing? About time!

If you check the second post on this page you will see a list of banned topics followed by a very abrupt post of mine. I managed to use every word in my daily shave rave (except I think the movements with boots - have to be careful here) and true to his word it got modded down to the few words you see. A pity in a way cause it was quite a clever post. At least I thought so, but I must admit the I did challenge he who has the powers. You may also notice the comments under his and my name have been changed compliments of the mighty mod.

Used the TOBS sandalwood again today, and got much better lather by not being shy with the water, although the aroma is quite mild to me.
EJ 89, alum, FS finest badger
Went back to using the Derby blade again - and it felt quite different to the blades I have been using.
My experience is not enough to say whether that was a good or bad thing, but the alum was a bit stingy at the end of the shave.

Still not mapped my face properly, so some places are nice and smooth while other areas are still a but stubbly, but all in all not too shabby today.

The cheque is in the mail!

Unless the topics turn to promotion of religion, gun collecting, hog shooting, hornswaggling, rootin' (or tootin'), bootscootin' or Justin Bieber, I don't see the point.

Carry on.

Hmmm, does Justin Bieber shave yet?

Mate, mate, mate. You clearly need my 127 page guide to the correct use of Cella. PM me your address and I'll send you payment details.

I don't know why the NeW is always spelt NEW maybe because the NEW Standard looks better then the New Standard. Maybe we should try and buck the sytem and call it the:

nEW
NeW
NEw
nEw

See how people like those options.

Meh, lower case for New Improved, if you put NEW in uppercase, very quick to work out the difference between them.
My New is from the 1920s. my NEW is from the 1930s. It dispenses with bothering to type 'improved' or 'standard'.
Blame gillette for such lame names that both start with 'new'. He should have called one 'ultra' and the other 'mega' or something...

Sorry folks, tried the above combo with Tabac instead of Cella and it's Tabac 1-Cella 0. Not even close. I'll keep alternating until I get more statistical validity. I really wanted to go on an SE run but I've put my foot in it here.

I can see some suspicious looking characters with violin cases hovering out the front.

Hope you havent put your hand up for Marks Pif cause if you have you've just done your dash.

Used Nanny's ice and a slice with the usual suspects today.

Nice smell, and reasonable amount of menthol, but user error meant that there was not enough lather, and what there was was too thin/wet. I need to work out how much soap I need to load onto a brush having only used creams before.

Only needed a pass and a half today anyway so not a disaster.

I will have to be very very careful how I word this as I can feel the Moderators beedy little eyeball watching.

This mornings shave had me wandering to the bathroom in my slippers (notice no boots) where I lathered up my Badger brush (no reference to Hogs at all there) and carefully applied a nice lather all the way to the roots (legitimate use there) of my whiskers. I wielded my trusty Featherweight with my usual dexterity until bumped on the leg by my dog (who has the unfortunate name of Justin - its a long story). I relathered and got the Slim into the attack and tootled around the edges the SE had missed. Rinsed off and glanced in the mirror praising no invisible Deity but my own skill for another excellent shave. (good thing the dog bumped me though as it reminded me he needed to go and get his shots today.

Phew that is hard work. Think I will stick to a normal post from now on. :)

It is a poor tradesman who blames his tools!

The correct response in these circumstances is to post a thread in the Doctor's Office sub-forum where you confess your sin of failing to lather properly with Cella and seeking the advice and assistance of more competent members. Fawning at the wonder of Cella and expression of abject horror at your own incompetence are more than welcome

;)

It's not just the dog that needs a shot of something.

If so, I will repent, chastise myself and plaster the walls of my house with pictures of gondoliers.
